I just got a VTR Effects Kailani and I want to use MIDI with it using my MC6 Pro. However, even though I have a Boss TRS multi directional cable connected in my midi daisy chain I cannot control this pedal even though it is on the specific channel I chose. I tried using just a MIDI TRS 3.5 mm cable from MC6 Pro to the pedal to see if maybe the cable was not working but I am still having the same issue. Please help! Is the Kailani even compatible with the MC6 Pro?
The Kailani looks like it uses TRS Type B according to its manual (tip to pin 4, Ring to pin 5):
If you have a little 1/8” to 1/4” TRS adapter (like the ones that come with headphones sometimes), try using that to connect your adapter to one of our Omniports, and then go to Controller Settings to set that omniport to MIDI TRS Type B. Test that out, and if it works, then you can go about finding a more permanent solution.
I’m trying to figure out if the Kailani pedal has its MIDI Din pins reversed or not. Can you go from the MC6 Pro DIN into the Kailani DIN and check to see if that works normally first?
Ok so I have a 5 pin going from the MC6 pro into the KAILANI via trs 3.5mm (the Boss cable in the picture) and I’ve had no luck. I also have the TRS 3.5mm going from MC6 pro to the KAILANI and that doesn’t work either. The KAILANI doesn’t have a 5pin connection. It only has the small 3.5mm that look like headphone jacks for use with midi
Then you need to find a 1/8” to 1/4” TRS connector, and then connect one of our Omniports to the Kailani. Then In the Omniport configuration, set that Omniport to MIDI TRS Type B.
Ok I did exactly that. I took the 1/8 cable with the 1/4 adapter, plugged into the Omni port, configured the Omni port and still nothing.
Hi,
the boss cable won’t work. It is type A.
OK I just purchased a Type B Midi. Not sure why but it is a little hard to come by. I will let you know if that works. Crossing my fingers!
Someone replied to your post.
