Right now I’m using MC4pro conjunction with fractal VP4 and mesa boogie mark V:25.
I’m succesfully control VP4 and markV25 channel with MC4pro ( superb!!!) , and now i have some idea to control my Amp channel direct from VP4 scene sent midi ( vp4 could sent 4 messages simultaneously per scene ) , is there any documentation how to trigger some preset patches in mc4pro ( in this scenario is relayport preset on my MC4pro Bank) from VP4 midi out
The Mesa Boogie Mark V 25 does not have MIDI, so you wouldn’t be connect the VP4 to it. Instead, you’d connect the MC4 Pro’s MIDI to the VP4 to control that, and its Relay output directly to the Mesa Boogie to switch its channels.
Why not just do it on the MC4 Pro? If you want the VP4 to do it, then are you planning on having the VP4 send a MIDI message back to the MC4, then have the MC4 convert that into a relay mesage? That’s possible, but you’ll need two-way communication between the VP4 and the MC4 and some fancy programming.
Right now I’m doing all with my mc4pro , but I felt lil bit cumbersome since I have plenty preset that need channel switching within 1-4 scene randomly and it’s so limited if I have to depends only on 4 switches in my mc4 pro , it so much flexible and time effective if doable send midi command from VP4 to mc4 pro because of dynamic preset on my VP4 . Back to my question how to command mc4 pro to engage some preset from VP4 ?
Sorry, I don’t have a VP4, so I can’t help you on that end, but basically, the MIDI implementation chart of the MC4 let you remotely trigger a preset: MC4 PRO User Manual | Morningstar Engineering
You can set the MC4’s MIDI listening channel in the General Configuration. I like to do externally triggered presets on the last page of my controllers, so let’s say Switch P (the last one), was set up like this:
Now, if you call CC#25=1 , it will trigger a Press on Switch P, which will engage the tip of your relay. CC#25=3 would disengage the tip. Here, I’m assuming your amp has a latching footswitch. I have no idea what it actually is (maybe someone else can step in)
