I need to control multiple USB devices (Source Audio C4, Eventide H90) with an MC8. Does anyone have any recommendations for a small form-factor device that can be mounted under a pedaltrain classic 2? This is a new concept for me so I’m a little unclear on exactly what I need.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way. You’ll need the WIDI uHost to connect wirelessly to another WIDI uHost. The other port on the uHost is for power only.
Oh, man, thanks. Do you know offhand if the micro ghost can support multiple devices if you hook it up to a hub? Seems like you set it to a specific midi channel.
For an MC8, you’d probably need: MC8 → WidiJack (or Widi Master) → Bluetooth → Widi Uhost → USB Hub
Not 100% sure the Widi UHost can work as a host to multiple devices on a hub:
Only works as a USB device with USB hubs. Works with the 1st USB MIDI port for USB devices with multiple (virtual) MIDI ports. Works as USB host with USB OTG cables.
There’s also the DoreMidi boxes. I have no experience with these, but it looks like only the first two support hubs and might be easier to power (with a center positive adapter).
Not sure if the Disaster Area device can handle a hub:
MOST Class-Compliant MIDI devices are supported. If your device requires a driver installation to work, then it’s not compatible. “Combined Device Class” units are not supported – eg. any device that is both audio + MIDI or multiple MIDI devices. If your USB device contains a USB hub, it is not supported.
