The USB-hub doesn’t seem to be recognized properly, as I can’t get a proper connection with my UAFX pedals or my Lehle expression pedal when plugged into the hub (they work fine when these devices are plugged directly into the Host port of the MC6 Pro, but naturally I can’t have more than one device connected that way).
Providing power over USB using the hub does work, but the actual data connection does not. So I’m wondering if there’s anything I can try to get this to work, or if I need to look at getting another USB-hub. When I plug the USB-hub into my computer it works, so the hub itself does not seem faulty. I have also updated my MC6 Pro to latest firmware.
It is my understanding that these midi controllers cannot act as a host, like you are attempting. The midi controller must be connected to a USB host-such as a computer-to transfer data.
Hmm perhaps I didn’t explain it clearly. Basically, what I’m trying to do is hook up a USB-hub to the host port of the MC6 Pro, so that I get more ports to connect MIDI-over-USB capable devices. It doesn’t seem to work, as no MIDI seems to be transmitted through the USB-hub, and I’m wondering if there is anything I can do to troubleshoot it.
Have you tried a different hub? I would bet that your Satechi hub is the issue, regardless of whether it works under normal circumstances with a computer etc.
Yeah I suspect so too. Unfortunately I don’t have another hub to test with. I’m just curious as to why this particular usb hub doesn’t work, because it seems simple enough and has no hdmi or network ports which I understand can be problematic.
Thanks for the response. I tried it with 9V but no luck. Today I received a UGREEN USB-C hub and it worked right away, so I suppose the Satechi hub just isn’t compatible with Morningstar.
Add to the lists of not working USB Hubs. Belkin Connect 4 Port USB C Hub. Tested both with and without external power to hub. Tested with 9V to MC8Pro.
