Toggling between different presets - Confused!

New MC6-Pro/ML10X owner here. I’ve configured some complex MIDI/Loop switching all successfully so far, minus one item. I have a bank, with multiple presets, and I can’t make it so that when I’m on Preset A, and select Preset B with my foot, it stops preset A and switches to Preset B. Preset A and B are both configured as Toggles, with position 1 (the first time I press the switch) switching CCs and PCs on various devices, and position 2 switching them all back/off again. That all works fine if I hit Preset A once, it performs those actions, and if I hit Preset A twice, it “reverts” them back to the initial state, all good.

If I hit Preset A once, then hit Preset B (without hitting Preset A a second time) it will enable B, but not make any of the Position 2 changes in A. I’m trying to use the “Set Toggle” action, and have it set up in Preset B that “On Press” → “Set Toggle” → “Disengage Toggle” → “A, C, D, E, F”. I also have the Bank “Clear all preset toggles: On” selected. I’ve tried all this disconnected from the editor, and it doesn’t seem to do anything at all!

I’m sure I’ve got things backwards or misconfigured, just not clear what I need to do so that if I pick Preset B, Preset A turns off (running all the pos:2 commands) and vice-versa. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi

If ‘clear preset toggles’ is active, your ‘set toggle’ messages are redundant, because ‘clear preset toggles’ will switch all presets back to position 1 if you engage a new preset.

‘set toggle’ does exactly what it says, it will set the position of a preset. It will NOT trigger any messages programmed to that preset.
If all of your presets in the bank are configured like you’ve described, programming the ‘off messages’ with an ‘on disengage’ action type (in addition to the ‘off messages’ assigned to position 2) in each preset will do that for you.

Many thanks for the response, I think I understand it now, and have fixed the issues.
