This is a feature request that has dawned on me the more I use Toggle Groups and Toggle Reset Groups (thanks to a recently posted video by Morningstar discussing the usefulness of this feature). Just like how you can name MIDI Channels to correspond with certain pedals to make selecting MIDI Channel faster and easier… why couldn’t the same concept be applied to Toggle Groups and Toggle Reset Groups?
This would be super handy when adding in a new Toggle Group or Toggle Reset Group to a preset, since you could then easily see what Toggle Groups are taken and what Toggle Groups are available. Here is a screenshot of what scrolling through Toggle Groups looks like now…
Imagine if when you were going to select your Toggle Group for a preset you could see the names of the Toggle Groups that you previously labeled like below as an example…
Just having the ability to include a short label for each would be a big quality of life improvement when working with Toggle Groups.
P.S. the names I chose were just an example and could be for even setting the preset on a given pedal or whatever you want… Just a thought!
It is doable. But likely we’ll implement this in such a way that the data is stored only in the Editor. I’ve created a ticket for this - link in the earlier post.
@james Congratulations on the successful launch of the MC8 Pro!! Truly looks wonderful and honestly puts Morningstar easily in competition as one of the leaders in MIDI programming and I’m very happy for you and the whole Morningstar team!!
I am curious however, now with the new launch, if there is going to be more time available to focus on a couple of the newer features I had suggested such as Toggle Reset Group Labels, and Conditional Message Types (as mentioned in another post: Conditional Message Type).
I understand that the use-case I mentioned with Conditional Message Type might actually be solved with the new feature of the controller being able to “remember” the previously sent PC message, but I am still curious if these features have had any further thought or progress in recent weeks?
Again, congratulations on the launch and am looking forward to the new developments with Morningstar Engineering!
After using the MC6 Pro for quite a while and building up a lot of presets to handle different tasks, I’m finding it really hard to keep track of all my toggle/reset groups without writing them down somewhere.
It gets pretty messy when you have so many.
This feature would be incredibly useful and is definitely much needed.
