Is there a simple way to save an MC8 preset based on current active settings on a single or combination of Strymon pedals all connected to the MC8. For example, I’m playing around with various knobs and settings to come up with a new sound. Is there a simple way in the MIDI editor or on the unit to save the current settings active on one or more pedals as a new MC8 preset. Thank you!
Not that I know of, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t!
I’d just find my sound, save a Strymon, add its PC message to the editor, then save another, add its PC, etc. Shouldn’t take long at all.
Ok yeah. That does seem like a pretty good way to do it. I’m pretty new to midi programming and workflow. Thanks!
There is no way for the MC8 to know the settings on the Strymons. But if you tweak everything on the editor (not using the knobs on the Strymon), you can just save the preset after that with your settings.
by tweaking on the editor, i mean using this function (click on the Msg button when you have Control Change selected. You can then adjust the slider to send out the CC values to achieve the sound you want.
Oh this is really cool, totally forgot about this feature!
I think this is possible actually. Strymon presets can be saved by holding the favorite button and then sending a MIDI PC message to the corresponding MIDI channel of the pedal. The current settings on the pedal are now saved as that PC. This is at least how it works on Volante, unsure if it also holds true for other Strymon pedals.
Perhaps it’s not ideal, but if you would set-up a bank on your Morningstar with a PC message for all your Strymon pedals, you could achieve your use case. You would have to press and hold the favourite button on each Strymon pedal first, although there might be even a way to control this message with MIDI.
