I watched the video on Youtube but still cannot get Toggle Reset Groups to do what I want.
I have a page of Drive pedals but I also have a seperate page of presets for my Chase Bliss Preamp MKII. I have all the drive pedal presets on page 1 set to Toggle Reset Group 3 (these are messages to the ML5). I have all the Chase Bliss presets also set to Toggle Reset Group 3. Whenver I select a preset on either page, my MC6Pro disengages all other presets. This works great, but the two different pages never have their Toggle indicators flipped.
Essentially, between the two pages of presets, I only one to ever show engaged.
A Toggle Reset Group is global. So out of all switches on Toggle Reset Group 3, only one can ever be on at a time, regardless of bank or page. That’s the intended behavior. Are you saying you can’t get that to happen?
Correct. For example on Bank 1, select Preset A (part of Toggle Reset Group 3). I then go to Bank 2 and select Preset A (part of Toggle Reset Group 3). If I navigate back to Bank 1, Preset A will still be toggled active.
I have Toggle Mode set to On for all presets. Message scroll Off for all and each bank as Clear all preset Toggles set to off

I believe toggle reset groups aren’t global. Only toggle groups are. If you want to reset the toggles in a different bank you can set up a ‘set toggle’ message in that bank and trigger it via ‘engage preset’.
I am not sure how to follow that? Can you elaborate?

Set up a message with ‘no action/set toggle-disengage/pos both’ in any preset and copy that to both banks.
Programm a message with ‘press/engage preset-(preset in other bank)/pos1 and copy that to all presets in the same bank. Do that for both banks.
I have found this frustrating also. Toggle groups are global, so engaging preset 1 will show it toggled on in every bank that has it. However, engage preset 2 and that also shows on in every bank, even if the command undoes the first one. For example, preset 1 engages a clean patch on your HX Stomp and preset 2 is a distortion patch. Obviously, only one will be engaged on the Stomp, but both presets will show on. That’s what toggle reset groups are for. If preset 1 and 2 are in the same reset group, engaging one will disengage the other so only one will be on at a time. However, this is not global so if you turn on preset 1, then change to a different bank with both presets they are not affected. If you have remember bank state on, going back to the first bank will still show preset 1 on, even if you changed it to preset 2 in another bank.
What would solve the problem is to allow a preset to belong to both a toggle group AND a toggle reset group. I asked this question here a few months ago and James said they were working on it.
What would be freaking awesome is if the music manufacturers fully embraced MIDI 2.0 with bi-directional data. Then the Morningstar would know the state of the device it’s controlling. It’s been out for over 5 years now, so I’m sure it’s coming. Eventually.
Additionally, while frustrating to some degree, it’s not really a problem for me. I’m controlling a Headrush Flex Prime, a Boss VG-800, a Boss GM-800 and a Boss VE-500. The vast majority of my presets are program changes. I could use set toggle messages, but I would need dozens of these. I’m using about 50 banks at the moment. Some are collections of patches, e.g., a bank for bass patches, acoustic patches, pianos, etc., and some are groups of patches for individual songs. I have remember bank state off, so each time I enter a bank everything is off and I select the patch I want. Since it’s a program change that doesn’t hurt anything if that patch is already active. If it’s already on an acoustic patch and I select that preset again nothing happens. Entering a bank and having it show which patch is currently on would be nice, but it’s only saving one button press. Where it does get tricky is where my preset toggles something on and off, i.e., the Harmony on my VE-500. If it’s on and I change banks it now shows off, but it’s still on. Because it’s a toggle, pressing the preset again turns it off but it shows on. I have to press the harmony button on the VE-500 to get it back in sync. MIDI 2.0 would fix that.
