[Solved] Note on feature not working MC6 mk2?

I have successfully been using note on commands with a liquid foot + controller to trigger files in a roland sample playback device but want to do the same with my MC6 MkII and am having no luck no matter what combination of programming in the morningstar editor or physical routing of cables etc that I try. PLEASE HELP

Can you share a screenshot of how you have the preset programmed in the MC6? If you check the MIDI monitor, are the note On messages appearing when you engage the preset?

I will send screenshots of both the preset screen and the Midi monitor screen. Midi channel 9 is the one I’m having the problem with sending note messages. I’ve tried multiple note messages on different cables, buttons or presets etc and having no luck. Thanks so much for your time

Thanks. I don’t see anything wrong with the settings. Can you email us (help@morningstarfx.com) your controller data dump so we can load it into our controller and troubleshoot?

So the issue is your Msg10 (note#11) is not getting sent?

I made a mistake and mixed up the screenshots. Below are the accurate screenshots regarding preset 1f.

It seems like all the messages are being sent out as per how you programmed the preset so no issues there.

Does your roland sample playback device respond to a Note On message only, or do you need some other combination like Note off, or Note On then Note off?

It works with only a midi note on. It plays the sample until the next note on message.

From the MIDI monitor it looks like everything is working fine.

Is the device responding to other messages that you are sending it? Are you connecting the controller to the device via the TRS port or DIN5 midi port?

All other messages sent from the MC6 mk2 are working fine. I am using a 5 pin din cable. The roland unit is called a P10. Here is a screenshot of a preset on the liquid foot that is operational with the P10 as well as other midi commands. Note 11 = A#3. When I type A#3 on the liquid foot editor it automatically adds the 46 after the A#3. Not sure if that matters? So the readout on the liquid foot editor says A#3:46 which is equal to midi note 11. I have tried a bunch of other midi note numbers to rule out that 11 is wacky or not.

Looks cryptic. can you possibly monitor what is being sent from the LF+ when you engage the preset? Not sure if it has USB MIDI capabilities.

Or you can connect the LF+ midi out to the MC6 midi in, and then turn cross midi thru on so the MC6 will forward the messages to USB and you can check the messages at www.midimonitor.com

Here is the screenshot of the liquid foot into the MC6 midi monitor. The liquid foot preset is sending midi note on A#3. The MC6 is set to midi channel 9. If needed I can set the MC6 to a channel that nothing is being sent from the liquid foot.

Here is the same type of hookup scenario but the MC6 is set to midi 7 where no program change messages are being sent from the liquid foot on channel 7.

Ok I understand now. A#3 is the 4th octave so you should be sending Note#46 instead of 11.

Note#46 is what is appearing when you engage the LF+ preset as well.

Got it to work!!! Appears the 46 number generated by the liquid foot editor is the same number I have to put into the morningstar editor. I think my code I wrote down (11) was corresponding to pads on the p10 but apparently that code was not working. Thanks for all your help.
