Setting up MC8 to control Logic X Pro

New user. I’m trying to setup my MC8 to control live loops on Logic. I’ve figured out how to do the basic controls, but I’ve run into a problem that seems like it ought to have an easy fix. Actions in Logic seem to generate outgoing midi signals that get sent back to the MC8 which invariably cause it to jump to a different bank from the one I’m working with. I have tried it both in edit mode and not in edit mode and it does the same either way. Obviously, this makes it pretty much impossible to use since I’m constantly having to navigate back to the right bank after every action.

How can I either 1) tell logic not to send those signals, or 2) tell the MC8 to ignore incoming midi messages?

Edit: I see in the manual under “working with other software/apple”: By default, Logic Pro mirrors in coming MIDI messages back to connected MIDI devices. So, if you are sending a MIDI channel on the same channel as your controller, your controller might respond to the MIDI message being sent (whether changing channels if its is a PC message etc). This option needs to be turned off, or your MIDI controller needs to be set to an independent MIDI channel.

This matches my assumption, but it still doesn’t tell me how to set my controller to an independent MIDI channel.

Hi! In the MC’s Settings screen, you can change the MC’s MIDI channel. Also in Settings is the MIDI Thru settings which could be useful…

Thanks! Changing the MIDI channel did the trick.
