Hello, I recently got the pro installed on my board. I’ve currently used a sound sculpture 8F to route my 7 loops. I’ve always just setup my presets in the 8F software, flashed those, then controlled the presents via buttons on the front of the switcher. I’ve gotten the 2 plugged in together, MIDI out from the MC6 to the 8F MINI in. I have the morningstar software up, I can go to my 1st preset and change the display label, color ect., but for the life of me I don’t know what to do from this point forward. I see where each present can have different controls to send, but any action/type I enter doesn’t do anything. At the moment I’d be happy to just scroll through my presets.
As I mentioned I do have the two hooked up via MIDI 5 pin, but in my case do I need two cables or just the one sending com from the mc6 out to the the 8f in?
I’ve played music forever, and put off diving into MIDI for this reason, just the unknown I suppose. Any help would be gladly appreciated!
Another thing I just noticed is, when opening the MC6 software, and using the “Manually select MIDI Input/Output”, option, the switchblade 8f is not there, I see other options, the MC6, my fosucrite, and three other outputs labeled "MIDIOUT3(4)(5) - not sure if my 8F is supposed to the there, but its not.
Looks like PC 122 is preset down and 123 is preset up.
So on the MC if you program bank 1 preset 1 message 1 to be a Press action sending PC 122 to MIDI channel 1, hopefully that’ll do something on your switchblade!
Yes, an 8F - I’ve figured it out. Everything on the 8f is navigated throught the screen on front. I thought I had to assign my presets a PC#, but it seems there is 0-126/1-127. Im slowly programing each “senerio” into the morningstar. Just figuring out the toggle, i thought I was missing out not waiting on the mc8, but this will work great, and save space. You can see, Im pretty stocked full… sorry, this is my first go at midi, aside from a midi controller for my daw, which was prettt much plug and play with reaper.
Thank you for your replies! I’m sure ill have more questions down the road, id like to utilize my expression pedal sometime
Thanks for the tag! I’ve been really wanting to get back to being active on the forum, just need to stop being so gosh darned busy all the time… We have a great community here thanks to posters like you, and I can’t wait till I can participate like I used to.
SwitchBlade is great! Glad you got it figured out. Don’t forget there’s computer software (BladeEdit?), which is muuuuuuuch easier than programing on the box. Merry MIDIing!
Thank you, theres 7 different loops, but I did just have to take a few off. Widdling it down to what I use the most. I tried a ml10x when they came out, love the company/support, but the buffers on the 8F just did it for me. Running this mc6 through its paces, so many features, I keep think of different ways of using different actions
I am embarking into a similar adventure as yours: using a MC6 Pro to control a Switchblade 8F/GL.
For the life of me, I can handle PC changes and sweeps… but I can’t figure out how to use CC to add/remove loops in order to select which amp I’m sending my guitar to.
I’ve read and reread the switchblade “smart” upgrade manual; setup the controllers on the loops. But I can’t figure out how to get the switchblade to take the CC and act on them. It works if I use the sweep feature, though, but that is pretty limiting.
Is it a functionality that you achieved to use? (please say yes…) or anyone else?
