Hi everyone
I’ve been using a Liquid Foot Midi Controller but it keeps on malfunctioning, so I’m trying to find a replacement that can do how I use it. So before buying I thought I’d ask here if it can do that - not necessarily how, but of course if someone has the time to tell me how, I already know if it’s quickly set up or not.
I try to keep it short: For rehearsal I need presets to select effects on my Eventide & Rocktron rack devices, around 20, so I use a “page” with presets for direct access and bank up/down switches for going to less often used presets.
Then for gigs I use “Setlist Mode” where I can make a list of songs (the setlist we play); these songs contain 1-4 presets. So a setlist, contains songs, a song contains presets.
While playing I have set one button to switch from one song to the next, during a song I have another button to switch to the next preset within that song. So I always press the same button for the next song and the other button for the next preset. This way I never have to remember or search for a preset while playing.
Plus I can see the song being played and the next song and the active preset and the next preset displayed, so I always know where I am.
Can anyone tell me, if all these functions are possible on the MC6 (programmed with the App)?
Any ideas, feedback etc. is appreciated, many thanks!
Hi, that’s possible. You could set up a switch to engage presets in other banks consecutively by programming a ‘message scroll’. You’d have to set up som sort of library first. A one song per bank approach would be feasible, you could simply programm a switch with a ‘bank up’.
Thanks a lot guitarwolf!
I played around with the demo of the software and found your suggestion with programming banks as songs combined with “bank up” (for each and every bank) one that should work. And I found a function where I can sort and move banks around, so I can quickly set the succession of songs I need for the setlist played.
I found a video about the “message scroll” function, which is precisely what I need for switching presets withing songs, I think. Thanks a lot for that input.
One last question I’m uncertain about yet: On the “bank up” button display, can it preview how this bank is called? So I could see what the next song in the set will be? That must be possible, right?
Like this on the left display, for example:
Upper Row: Last Song Played
Middle Row: Current Song
Lower Row: Next Song
Then the middle display the same with the presets in the current song.
Then an idea just coming up: Are there like global presets which I can set to appear on every bank throughout the whole profile? So I could have the same two presets available wherever I am on the third display (buttons C & F)?
Thanks again GuitarWolf!
Not sure if I understand correctly; manually meaning I’d have to put in song names individually, let’s say we play 25 songs, I would have to do it 25 times and next gig we play some different songs and 27 I would have to write in 27 songs?
Yes, there is no other way. You could create some sort of library in a dedicated bank, containing presets with ‘bank jumps’ to specific banks. Which could be named an easily rearranged in case you shuffle up the setlist. Iirc there was an update which ties a bank jump to a given bank even if the order of banks has been changed.
I gave up loading song banks in the required order per gig. Now I just have them all stored A-Z and use Bank Change Mode to browse up and down. That function DOES show you the bank name: bottom left and right buttons go up/down, middle button selects
You can drag and drop songs in to the MC easily enough though: when you’ve programmed a preset/bank, export it, name the resultant JSON file with the song’s name, store them in a folder on your laptop then using the Editor’s Setlist Manager function you can drag them in as desired…
Many thanks guys! I’m slightly confused now as there seem to be several ways and I don’t know how Bank Change Mode works (it’s not mentioned in the manual) and I can’t see the Setlist Manager in the Demo Mode, but I know now that all I need is possible, so that’s good.
