Set Toggle (beta)

I’m not sure I understand the position type "Set Toggle (beta) setting. Can someone shed some light on this for me?

Hi. The Set Toggle function sets the toggle states of your switch presets according to what is check boxed. Presets that are checked will have their toggle states engaged, while presets that are unchecked will have their toggle states disengaged.

This is feature was introduced so you do not need to use both Engage and Disengage messages to set the desired toggle states of your switch presets.

Does ‘Toggle & Toggle Reset Group’ make ‘Set Toggle’ unnecessary, or are they complementary? For now, I’m having a hard time knowing when to use one or the other…

Hi,

toggle groups are a feature that has been implemented to streamline the most common use cases of set toggle messages.

‘Remember Toggle States‘ (Controller Settings), ‘Clear Preset toggles’ (Edit Bank) are global/bank level settings to specify the general behaviour of toggles.

‘Toggle Group’ can be used to sync presets (works across banks).

‘Toggle Reset Group’ can be used to dis engage other presets within a group (in the same bank).

‘Set Toggle’ only works within a bank. (unless you set up a preset that can be engaged via ‘engage preset’)

On bank level ‘set toggel’ can do everything a ‘Toggle Group/Toggle Reset Group’ can do and more. (shift/unshift etc.)

However ‘set toggle’ is also much more flexible than ‘Toggle Group’. For example, it is possible to dis engage A when pressing B but not vice versa. But it is generally more programming to do.
