Send specific Bank Jump to MC6 Pro from Gigrig G3S via MIDI CC

Hi folks,

Is it possible for me to send a MIDI CC message from my Gigrig G3S, that will correspond to a Bank Jump Event for a specific Bank/Page on the MC6 Pro?

The behaviour I’d like:

  • Set up a particular Bank on G3S with presets, corresponding to a particular song in my live setlist.
  • The Bank selection action in G3S includes a MIDI CC message sent from G3S (MIDI OUT) to MC6 Pro (MIDI IN) on the correct channel.
  • The CC message corresponds to a selection of a particular Bank/Page preconfigured on MC6 Pro.

The use case for this:

  • Setting up Banks on MC6 Pro on a per (live) song basis, that allow MIDI CC parameter control for specific pedals to be assigned to MC6 Pro footswitches or an attached expression pedal, ready to use live for that song.
  • Changing Banks on the G3S therefore automatically changes to a corresponding Bank/Page on the MC6 Pro, and keeps the two platforms in relative sync according to my preference.

I believe that the Bank Up/Down/Jump feature can be assigned to a particular MC6 Pro footswitch, but like the idea of having a 1:1 relationship between the Banks on the G3S and Banks/Pages on the MC6 Pro that I can tie together so that they correspond to songs in my live setlist.

I’m assuming that it is technically possible to assign some type of value to a given Bank/Page on the MC6 Pro that can be referenced in a MIDI CC message, enabling external control.

Looks like the MIDI Implementation section is the missing piece I was looking for.

I was thinking it would need to be triggered via CC, but seems MC6 Pro uses PC messages to Engage Banks - I couldn’t find this page initially, I was searching through the Message Type List and so on trying to find it.

So you actually could set up the Bank/Preset on the G3S to:

  • Send a PC message to set Engage Bank to a specific Bank on the MC6 Pro
  • Send a CC message to set Toggle Page to a specific Page on the MC6 Pro
  • Send a CC message to set Engage Preset to a specific Preset on the MC6 Pro (or alternatively disengage them all).

Then you could continue to send Presets/CC via the MC6 Pro footswitches or a connected expression pedal as you play, to manage different parameters as you play.

I think that was the missing piece of the puzzle I couldn’t find the documentation for. Thanks for the heads up!
