Second Press ‘Toggle’ Actions

Hi all.

I’m using a MC6 mkii to select snapshots on my HX Stomp. What I am trying to setup is that with the first press of a switch it selects the snapshot and with the second press of the same switch it adds an effect via my Eventide H90. A third press of the same switch returns to the original state, turning off the effect.

I’ve setup the preset in toggle mode with the relevant CC messages and a toggle name which flashes the effect that is added. The problem is when I switch between presets, it immediately displays the toggle name.

Message 1 - PC to engage the snapshot (both toggle positions)
Message 2 - CC to engage the effect (toggle position 1)
Message 3 - CC to bypass the effect (toggle position 2)

Can anyone help out to fix this please?

Hi! Given you you want three things to happen I think there are two options:

Simple might be to use a combination of actions. Downside will be that msg 1 and 2 would activate when you take your foot off rather than put your foot on, and msg 3 would need a longer press to activate - might be clunky live. Anyway:

[Release action] Message 1 - PC to engage the snapshot (both toggle positions)
[Release action] Message 2 - CC to engage the effect (toggle position 1)
[Long Press action] Message 3 - CC to bypass the effect (toggle position 2)

But that might still not work, it’ll depend on whether message 1 (being set to position ‘Both’) will trigger along with the [Release] msg2 and the [Long press] msg3, and whether that matters.

The best option, but the one that’s harder to set up, is Shift. I don’t use it myself but plenty threads on here about it, and people who can help out! Good starting point: https://youtu.be/en2ip2i3us8?si=gJ2x-vNm457n3ykx

moley has a point here.
However it is possible to set up a preset to alternate shift and position 2.
Deactivate ‘toggle mode’ and programm a ‘toggle preset’ message in ‘pos 1’.
Programm a ‘set toggle/shift’ message in ‘pos 2’.
The preset will then toggle from pos1 to pos 2 when first engaged and toggle between pos 2 and pos shift on every subsequent press.

Thanks both - I appreciate the time taken to reply. Both ideas sound like they have good grounds to work. I’ll maybe get a chance tonight to setup both suggestions and see how they operate live.
