BLUF: I’m looking for right-angle TRS plugs that will pack tightly enough to fit on the ML10x and that have enough space to accommodate a pair of Mogami 2314 or 2319.
I’m trying to clean up the wiring on my board and reduce the potential failure points. Right now, I have the Morningstar splitters running to hand-made TS cables that run the rest of the way to the pedals. The Morningstar splitters introduce a lot of bulkiness and double the number of things that can fail, so I’d like to replace them with custom TRS-TS splitters that run directly to the pedals.
The issue I’m running into is trying to find right-angle TRS plugs with a small enough housing and short enough barrel that they don’t interfere with each other when jammed in the ML10x. For layout purposes, I’m trying to avoid straight plugs, so the easy solution of using SPS7s isn’t on the table, sadly.
The only plugs we know will fit (based on their dimensions given in their website - we have not personally tried any) is the Creation Mini Cake: Working with other products?
There was a question about this so we drew it out.
I saw those but was dubious about squeezing a pair of 2314s in the 6.2mm hole. Is that what you did? If not, what cable did you use? It looks like the 550 and the one james linked have similar openings.
Yeah I was dubious too… but on the advice of an old guy who builds way nicer cables than me, I decided to give it a go. It ended up being super easy and the cables are really solid. The thing about the SP-550S is that they are so easy to unplug (compared to the SPS), which is a nice benefit of doing it this way.
Come to think of it, almost all my kmmk cables have been done slightly off-spec.
I would love to combine some right angle cables that were super flat with some that stuck out more. That way, the bottom row could be low-profile and the top row would flow over top of them and all the cables would face the same way.
I combined Morningstar right angled adaptors TRS to 2 x TS female, with Pancake plugs on the Bottom row.
Seems to work perfectly with the pancake jacks nested underneath the Angled.
