[Resolved] PLEASE help with MC8 MIDI Clock

I hope I am just missing something obvious. This has been bugging the heck out of me this evening.

I am simply trying to feed MIDI clock into the MC8 and have the MC8 pass it to the MIDI output.

My MIDI setup is:
Arturia Keystep PRO (MIDI OUT) → MC8 (MIDI IN)
MC8 (MIDI OUT) → DIGITAKT (MIDI IN) *Note: I have also tried a hologram microcosm with no joy

The Keystep sends clock just fine. I can see the clock changing on the MC8 LCD (although randomly this ALSO didn’t work and I had no idea why). However, neither the Digitakt nor the Microcosm receive the MIDI clock from the MC8.

I have tried MIDI persist on and off, MIDI THRU on and off, Ignore MIDI clock on and off, and all combinations.

Logically, I think it should be: MIDI persist ON (Im changing clock with another device, not the MC8), MIDI THRU ON, and Ignore MIDI Clock OFF.

I have eliminated the error to the MC8. When I go directly from the Keystep to either the Digitakt or Microcosm it works and they receive clock. Also, MC8 just wont send clock period even when nothing is connected to its MIDI IN.

What is the deal with MIDI Clock on this device and please help me.

MIDI Thru ON, Ignore MIDI Clock OFF is correct.

MID Clock persist doesn’t matter if you’re just passing incoming MIDI Clock.

What firmware is your MC8 running?

When the MC8 receives an incoming MIDI clock signal from the MIDI IN port, the BPM will be displayed on the right side of the screen.

Check that you have connected the MIDI cable correctly. Standard MIDI cable has 5pins while the MIDI IN/OUT port has 7 pins so it’s possible to wrongly orientate the connection.

Are you able to pass other MIDI messages (CC, PC) through?

James, you are a godsend. I feel like a blubbering fool. I had the pins mis-aligned, as I hadn’t even considered that possibility.

Thanks so much for the response and help. All is well now.
