Hi, I’m trying to set up my DSM & Humboldt Simplifier X to channel switch using the relay ports on my MC6 Pro and can’t get it to work. I’ve looked through the manual and online and can’t seem to find any details about the switching system (whether it requires latching, momentary, normally open or closed). It channel switches fine using the included 2 button footswitch. I think I’ve tried every option on the MC6 pro and non of them work. Anyone have any ideas of what I’m missing?
If I were to guess, I would say latching switches. One for the A/B to ground through an LED to the sleeve and the other for reverb on/off through LED’s to ground. I could be wrong. Here’s the text from the manual: The Simplifier X includes a footswitch to control the channel selection and Reverb
on/off status. This Footswitch is compatible with TRS channel controllers (as found in
many pedal switchers). The Tip controls the Channel selection, and Ring controls the
Reverb.
- For your convenience, we’ve included a TRS 3.5mm cable to operate footswitch
Thanks for looking at this and for your response LeeMo. So to my understanding programming this to a switch in the editor should make it change channels, but still nothing happens.
You did not enable Toggle Mode for your switch
Ah yes good catch! I set this up quickly as an example because I had cleared the preset before posting. Just made sure to try it with the Toggle Mode enabled and still not working, unfortunately.
Can you hear the MC6 PRO relay engaging and disengaging when you press the switch? Can you confirm that the 3.5mm TRS cable you are using is working well too?
Do the Simplifier switches " click " when pressed? If not , then the switches are most likely momentary and the switching is solid state within the main unit.
If you have access to a volt/ohm meter you could check this.
Thanks for all the help! Here are the details:
- I can hear the MC6 PRO relay engaging and disengaging when I press the switch
- I’m using the same 3.5mm TRS that I use with the Simplifier stock switch, and it works with that. I also tried another TRS to be sure though
- The switches on for the Simplifier have a much more significant click than my MC6 Pro. I have a volt/ohm meter but for some reason I can’t get it to turn on. When it rains, it pours!
Thanks again for all the help guys, really hope I’m able to solve this one.
Maybe contact DSM Humbolt about the actions of the switch.
Just a shot in the dark, but my Rockerverb is only switchable via fs if the dip switch is in the -clean- position.
I am planning to sell my MC8 and get the MC6 Pro, and had the exact same question as the OP. It would be GREAT to use the MC6 Pro for this!
Has anyone succeeded in making this work?
Hey, I had looked this topic up before deciding to upgrade from the MC8 to the MC6 Pro, and it was the first thing I programmed on the Pro. I did get it working: You need to go to the Controller Settings/General Configuration page and set the relay port you’re using to NO/NO.
In the Preset setting for each of the toggles, both the Engage/Disengage and Toggle actions work for both Amp toggle and Reverb on/off. For the Amp toggle, make sure that the Simplifier is in mode 2.
I was delighted to get this working, it makes the Simplifier X a much ‘cleaner’ addition to a pedalboard!
You nailed it!
I couldn’t get this working before and planned to return to it after I got my multimeter working to test it. I eventually fixed the multimeter but never got around to testing.
Just tried what you suggested and it works. I just ordered a ML10X too and plan on updating my pedalboard so this will come in super handy. Thanks a bunch for sharing the solution!
