RC-5 TRK PLY/STP via MIDI CC not cycling through overdub state

Hey everyone. I’m controlling my RC-5 via MIDI from a Morningstar MC6 PRO on CH10. CC#80 is assigned to TRK PLY/STP.

When I use the physical pedal on the RC-5 the cycle works exactly as expected: Record → Playback → Overdub → Playback.

But when I trigger TRK PLY/STP via CC#80 from the MC6 the cycle is: Record → Playback → Stop. It completely skips the overdub state and just stops playback on the third press.

Is the RC-5’s MIDI implementation of TRK PLY/STP not the same as pressing the physical pedal? Is there a separate CC or workaround to get overdub triggerable via MIDI?

Hi,
apparently it is not possible to trigger overdub via midi. Why? Because Boss :man_shrugging:
But you could use the relay port of the MC to trigger rec/play/dub via the CTL port of the RC.
