Quaniloop MC-8 "Latching"

I sold my looper and I will replace it in the near future, but for the meantime I’m using Quantiloop controlled by the MC-8. For some reason, Quantiloop reads the MC-8 midi messages as latching switches instead of momentary. Am I wrong that this is odd?
