Possible bug with Device ID?

I am playing with three ML10X switchers in my rig (controlled by an MC8), and have hit a snag- every time I turn everything off and back on again, the device ID of each of my switchers reverts back to “omni”, and therefore receive (and respond to) all the same messages, rather than the specific ones that are meant for each individual unit.

My first instinct is always user error, but I have reassigned device IDs and saved settings many times. It always works fine until I turn all the units off and then start them up again, and then I’m back in “omni”. None of my other controller settings reset or revert.

Has anyone else experienced this? Morningstar, is there anything you can do to help?

Yes! It’s a bug. Sorry, we fixed this in Dec but have not released an updated firmware yet. Please use this attached firmware.

20221229 ML10X Device ID bug fix beta.hex (351.4 KB)

Thank you so much!! Excited to give this a try. Appreciate the quick response, and all the thought and effort that goes into these awesome devices!

This is really getting into the weeds, but could you make a firmware that combines this fix with the mirroring of output tip to output sleeve? I need both in one for the front of my pair of ml10xs for my wdw rig to function properly!

Agreed. We could use a new firmware that unifies all of the various fixes floating around in one-offs. I know you are very busy @james

For sure. But just FYI, these are not official releases but just quick fixes to get the feature out for use asap. Like an alpha firmware

EDIT: Sorry, I just realised this topic is related to the Device ID bug (I was thinking about the new input split feature)

Heads up that this issue is still present on the current firmware as of Jan 30, 2025.

EDIT: January 10, 2025 1.2 Beta firmware seems to resolve this issue.

Thanks for pointing this out. This should already have been fixed 2 years ago in the latest current firmware. I’ll look into this and update
