No available loops after updating firmware to v1.2.0 and using Editor 1.2! Oops, what did I do?!

I just received my ML10X Rev B, brand new from Morningstar. It arrived with Firmware 1.1.2.

I played around with it for 30 mins or so using the editor (using Chrome on Mac), saved some advanced loops. All good. (Side note – I’m connected using USB C because I can’t seem to connect to the editor over MIDI for some reason.)

I then decided to update the firmware over USB to the latest version available on GitHub
LATEST_2025-02-07_ML10X_REV_B_Firmware_v_1_2_0_BETA.hex

It now says V1.2.0 when I boot up the ML10X and I can now see icons for the advanced loops on the small display, instead of just saying “ADVANCED MODE”. Seems like the update went ok.

However, when I go to v1.2 of the editor, there are no NO available loops! And in the Controller Settings tab it says Firmware Version 0.0.0.0.

I can still send data to the ML10X, eg, like renaming a preset. But again, there are no loops. If I refresh the editor I just go back to the hardware selection page.

I’ve tried resetting the ML10X to factory settings but that didn’t help.

The only thing I can do to see my loops is use the v1.1 Editor, but then I don’t get to enjoy the new functions of v1.2 like renaming the inputs.

Please help!

Thanks for the feedback. I wasn’t able to replicate this issue, even when using the same firmware and doing a factory reset. In the editor, can you right-click on the page, and then click on “Inspect” to open the developer console, then navigate to the “console” tab and send a screenshot of any error messages?

The error says “No MIDI device is connected”. However, it says this for Editor v1.2 (which shows no loops) and v1.1 Latest.

Ok, I figured it out. I feel pretty stupid now.

I was trying to connect through the Serial Port option, as I thought that was for USB connections (the S in USB is for SERIAL, after all).

However, if I connect using the MIDI option (highlighted below) then it just works and I can see all my loops. Stupidly I thought the MIDI option was for 5 pin MIDI only, until I noticed that my ML10X was detected in the MIDI section with the 5 pin ports disconnected haha.

So what is the purpose of the experimental serial connection?

Yes, the MIDI connections are “virtual” MIDI connections using the standard plug-and-play drivers. The “serial” option connects more directly to the USB without abstracting it as a virtual MIDI port in the same way.

Thanks for the info! Yes I see now that there is an issue with the Serial port option. Looking into it now and will update soon.

Update: I’ve fixed this in the beta editor - will push to the live editor by end of the week.

I’m having a similar issue - I updated the ML10x to 1.2 but the beta editor can’t see it despite being directly plugged in via USB C. The live editor can see it just fine

The beta editor and the live editor are currently running the same code. If you meant that you can’t see your device in the beta editor connection page, it might be related to the MIDI settings in the browser for the beta editor URL.

Are there some settings in Firefox I need to adjust?

I figured it out. I had loaded the 1.1.2 firmware on by mistake
