Morningstar MidiBox not passing midi thru messages

I’m using a morningstar midi box with the modification to use for Chase Bliss pedals. I use the thru port to send to a boss VE 500. Until this morning everything has always worked fine. I unplugged and plugged some things and now I can no longer send midi thru to the Boss VE 500. The boss unit gives me a “midi error” message. I have uncoupled the VE 500 from the midi box and it does recieve midi messages if the midibox is bypassed. I also tried a strymon pedal on the thru port of the midi box and it also doesn’t work.

Any ideas on how I might have messed up the the midi thru function on the midibox?

If just connecting the VE500 and nothing else, do you still have the issue? Is this the 5pin MIDI output or the 3.5mm output?

No issue if not put through the midibox. I”ve been using the 5 pin out and it’s worked fine, I’ve tried both the 5 pin and the 1/8” ports.

have you tried using a different cable to rule out a cable issue?

The MIDI Box just utilizes hardware buffers to replicate the incoming signal, so there’s no software or anything to “corrupt” the incoming data.

Just to clarify, the MIDI Box works fine for other pedals but not the VE500 and Strymon?

You earlier mentioned that you had the Box set up for CB pedals. That would involve setting the internal jumpers to “ring active”. Did you set them back to work correctly with the pedals you are connected to?

Yes, I configured the jumpers on Port 1 to work with Chase Bliss. This port is still passing signal to my Chase Bliss Brothers.

None of the other ports (all unmodified), nor the 5 pin Midi Out, seem to be passing signal. I have tried the Strymon after the 5 pin Midi out, as well, and it does not respond. Both the Strymon and the VE 500 are recieving Midi when not routed thru the Midibox.

I have confirmed that my midi cables are working correctly.

Are the other 1/8” ports able to pass standard Midi with no modification? I can’t seem to effect this.
