MOOD preset not engaging on some..but does on others...?

Hello everyone,
anyone else have this behavior happening? when recalling a preset on the “blood” channel (or both) sometimes it is engaged and on other presets it isn’t? also, i’ve noticed that every time i change to any preset (the center LED at the bottom goes from red to green and back again with every preset change.

I’m quite literally copying and pasting the preset that “works” (in the sense that the pedal is engaged) to a new preset location and then simply changing my PC value to a new previously stored preset i’ve made (setting the pedal the way i want, holding down both buttons on the MOOD and sending the PC change via the MC8. Here’s the “working” preset. FWIW i can see the left channel light green for a split second and then goes back to bypass…

Here’s the “good” preset.

and the “not engaged” preset…what gives?

Not sure if its a MOOD issue.

Just curious why you’re sending CC#102 value 0 to bypass the MOOD first, and then a CC#103 value 126 to engage both channels on the MOOD after that? In your “good” preset, the only different is that the bypass message is set to “On First Engage” action, which means that the first message will only be sent once and will not be sent on subsequent presses. Probably the MOOD has issues processing the CC#102 and CC#103 messages together?

Seems like the CC#102 message is redundant in your setup though. Try removing it and see if the issue still persists?

Hi James,
Thanks for responding. My idea for the 102 followed by 103 CC because I was having issues going to between various presets within banks and pedals not getting “turned off”. I wrote about it on the forum here:

https://forum.morningstar.io/t/best-practice-use-clear-preset-toggle/5006. Basically I’m trying to get ONLY the pedals i want for a particular preset and some are remaining on unless i use 7 out of my 16 messages (102 CC equivalent messages)to turn my 7 pedals all off and THEN turn the ones i want on…

I’m still not sure if this is the best way to do that or not.

I can say that the issue is happening with and without the 102 CC message present or removed. The pedal remembers the preset parameters but doesn’t engage properly.

Thanks in advance for any wisdom you can provide!

Cheers,
Bryan

Controlling MOOD bypasses with MIDI seems to have a really strange implementation to me. Instead of being able to control each switch individually, there are various combinations via CC’s 102 and 103 - with 102 really just engaging / disengaging the last saved bypass state.

103 with its combinations of “this side on” / “this side off” etc also makes it weird.

I tried a little test of 3 presets.

PC 10 - only the blood “left” side on as a delay
PC 11 - only the loop “right” on with knobs tweaked enough to be different from 10
PC 12 - both sides engaged

Whenever I activated PC10 it worked with just the program change.

Anything with the looper side involved required also engaging that side so I added a CC 103 / 45 on release.

When I wanted both sides engaged with PC 12, I added CC103 / 127 on release.

Finally, I added a Clear switch to get back to live mode because MOOD seems to keep in preset mode once you enter a preset (middle LED stays lit).

The Clear command was CC 103 / 0 on press and PC 0 on release.
