Ml5 squealing sound

So my ml5 makes a loud, high pitched squeal when I have effects engaged in the loops. Not sure what is causing this. This happened in my first ml5, I exchanged it for a new one and it does the same thing. Seems to only do this with my lava solderless cables and I can rotate them in the jacks to make it stop. It only happens with the ml5 not with the cables on their own. I have tried several. Any ideas of what is causing this?

Just to troubleshoot, have you tried using a different brand of plug just to check if the issue persists?

Hey James! So I tried a few things. First, it only happens with the “send” jacks on channel an and channel e. I tried an ebs flat patch and a standard neutrik plug and didn’t have the issue, only with the lava tightrope solderless ends. I tried to attach a video but it’s the wrong file type, hahaha. I ordered some straight barrel solder ends that. House be in today. I will solder up some of those for the send and returns and report back! Just don’t want to have to send back a second one if I can help it, plus my mc6-pro I ordered yesterday should be here soon so I want to try and take care of it in house if possible!

Oddly I get a really weird isolating squeal with the ML10X on start up, only until I select a preset.
I too have the Lava Tightrope but obviously they not stereo so not directly into the ML10X.
Curious coincidence though :thinking::thinking:

This is different from the ML5. I have not tried replicating this yet but it can definitely be resolved via a software update.

@Kylelaster if you have a multimeter, you can check if there is any resistance to ground between the Tip and Sleeve on your Lava tightrope. If there is then that could be the issue.
