ML5: How to turn PC's on and off with BOSS ES8?

I finally got around to connecting my ML5 to my ES8 and I’ve read TFM, but I’m no MIDI expert. I’ve set the MIDI Ch. and programmed the 32 PC’s. From there it gets a bit confusing for me, for example: right now I have PMIDI 4 in Auto as PC 32, all effects off, then PMIDI 7 in Manual which I then use the BankUp button. I select BankUp and PC 7 comes on, but IDK how to turn it off. IDK if any of what I’ve done is correct or not. Does it matter if it’s in the Volume Loop (I don’t use 4CM) or Loops 1-8?

I would really appreciate any help, thanks!

Hi, a PC is a programm change. It will load a preset. To ‘turn it off’ you’ll have to send PC 32 again to load the previous preset.
Putting the ML5 into the volume loop is fine btw.

Thanks for the reply. That’s the problem, IDK how to send, get it back to PC32 again, I’ve tried what I thought would work, but I’m obviously doing something wrong and I’m sure it’s something simple. :grimacing: This first image shows my MIDI for the patch, then the Assign for PC7, Bank Up button.

Hi,
you would have to sacrifice one of your assigns and programm your ES8 to trigger another pmidi which is set to manual that sends a pc 32 again.
I’d suggest to use the ‘CNum’ to do this. That way you can reset the patch if you press the footswitch that was used to recall the patch. I’d also suggest to sacrifice the assign that triggers the led, because it wouldn’t stay in sync anyway. Also, you should change the mode in assign 12 from TGL to MOM.

Thanks for the help, but it appears what I’m trying to do can’t be done with the ES8 from what someone else told me. The most I can do is CNUM like you said.
