So, I’m just trying to wrap my head around how to route pedals with the ml10x. Not sure what is for sure possible and/ or how to go about doing it. I’ll give a rundown of what I’ve got going and if anyone has answers to my questions outlined at the end I would be very grateful to hear them. I’ll preface this by saying my basic goal is to be using my mc6 pro, ml10x, and midi expression pedal to control everything on my board besides the tuner, “always on” pedals, and booster.
Right now I have 4 mono gain pedals in A & B, followed by a mono preamp pedal and mono delay in C. That all works for me no problem but this is where my confusion and problems start…
I have a stereo reverb (polara) and stereo delay/reverb (avalanche run) after those but I can’t figure out how the stereo part works with the ml10x. I have the TRS breakout cables correctly routed to them (I’m 99% sure), but it doesn’t seem to work properly? They work fine in mono though. My next issue is that my brain is exploding trying to figure out how to best incorporate the GFI synesthesia here. I have the E tip and E ring loops reserved for it but there is only one input on the pedal and to complicate it more the GFI has its own effects loop and can run two types of modulation at once- and I believe also be placed in two in different parts of chain. Right now i just have the ml10x running its return/out to the input of the synesthesia. What I am hoping to accomplish is getting all of the gain stages, modulation, and the time based effects mentioned above to a point where they are all reorder-able, can be run in parallel, and become a stereo signal. After the ml10x (and currently the GFI pedal) I have 3 more stereo pedals that are all midi controlled. Here are (some of) the questions I’ve been trying to figure out the answers to for actual weeks…
- How should I route these pedals to achieve what I outlined above? Is it even possible? Most importantly how/ where do I route the gfi dual modulation pedal to get the most flexibility (i.e. running one modulation setting before a gain pedal and one at the end or in parallel).
- Does it even make sense to put midi controlled pedals in the ml10x or is it only suited for non midi pedals?
- How would I go from mono loops to stereo loops?
- If I go stereo out of the ml10x I just need a trs to trs cable?
- I have stereo midi controlled pedals before the ml10x but I assume I have to use them in mono since its going into the ml10x which goes first into mono gain stages. Is that a correct assumption or is there somehow a way to have those two pedals (enzo and darkstar) begin a stereo chain and feed that into the ml10x?
- Is it somehow possible to put a mono, non-midi pedal in a loop that requires being tapped twice and use the mc6 to tap? thinking a looper or ehx freeze type thing. I would think this isn’t a possibility but worth an ask.
- Is there some way to do a wet/dry setup with all those mono gain stages in the ml10x with “wet” fx?
- My trs expression pedal that’s connected to the mc6 pro should be able to be used with any midi pedal that has exp. capabilities right? And I don’t need to patch the exp. out to the mc6 if its connected via midi?
- Will the expression pedal be able to be assigned volume function so I don’t have to add a volume pedal for swells and mutes, etc?
- With the editor, would other midi controlled pedals NOT in the ml10x have the ability to be run in parallel or reordered with the ones that are since all devices are connected or can you only do that with the ones in the loops?
I know that’s a lot but sincerely appreciate any insight someone might have for me!
