I’ve got a new (second) ML10X that works fine when controlled by its buttons and LCD screen, but does not respond to ML10X messages (or PC message) coming directly from my MC6 Pro via a DIN-5 cable.
Details:
It’s my second ML10X. I was using the Omni Device ID for the first one, but since this is the second one I set the first ML10X to Device ID 1 and the new one to Device ID 2. I started by connecting a DIN-5 cable from the MIDI THRU Port on the old ML10X to the MIDI In on the new one. That didn’t work, so as a test I just connected straight from the MC6 Pro to the new ML10X. Some further tests, but no luck with any of them:
- I tried with three different DIN-5 cables, just to rule out a bad cable.
- As another test I tried using a PC message to see if I could select a loop that way. To do this, I assigned a unique MIDI channel to the ML10X via its screen and buttons, and used that channel in a test PC message from my MC6 Pro.
- One final test I tried was switching the ML10X message from the MC6 Pro to the Omni Device ID. (Just in case there was some issue in my setting it to Device ID 2 to distinguish it from my first ML10X.)
- I’ve been using Advanced Mode for all my presets, but as a test I changed one of them to Simple Mode. Sending an ML10X message from my MC6 Pro to change from another preset to the Simple Mode preset doesn’t work either.
- I tried the ML10X’s test functions (per this). It fails on MIDI read. (To make sure I understand this, I did the same test on my old ML10X, and it indeed shows MIDI messages received.)
- I tried a factory reset (and uploading a saved .json file to get my presets back).
The only way to change loops on my new ML10X seems to be via the screen and buttons on the ML10X itself. (My old ML10X always has worked and still works just fine; fully controllable from my MC6 Pro.)
A few other details:
- Dedicated 9-volt power.
- The LCD shows ML10X v1.1.2 on startup. (And “Power: -5.00 :: 5.00”).
Any ideas on other troubleshooting steps I can take?
