ML10X "Mute" Engaging Unprompted

Hi all, I have a large board and am running the ML10X under the board to control all my overdrives. The RJM PBC/6X is the brain of the operation. I’m having an issue with my ML10X going “mute” on me in the middle of playing–not even while changing a preset or anything. I thought perhaps I had accidentally programmed a CC message to mute somewhere so I went so far as to add the CC message to “unmute” to every preset, which I thought solved the problem. But it’s persisting–it mutes on me randomly just while I’m playing without me changing or touching anything–just out of the blue. If I reload the preset it unmutes, as it should, but this is quite problematic. I can’t have it turning off on me while I’m playing like this.

Has anyone run into this?
Any ideas for a solution?

I’ve not experienced this one, but my first general suggestion would be to fully disconnect the MIDI in and USB on the ML10X and see if you can get it to happen again.

That’ll be the fastest way to pinpoint if the issue is some errant midi message, or something going wrong with the unit itself.

That’s a good thought.
It’s a bit tricky b/c there is no pattern to when it happens, so I’d have to play it for probably 10-20 hours without it happening to be somewhat sure (some days it doesn’t happen at all)

You could also try changing the midi channel that the ML10X is listening on.

It’s a less perfect way of isolating the issue but still could help you figure out if it was something else sending the midi message that is muting things. With a complicated setup, isolating where the issue lies is your most important step.

The problem is that if the issue is in your programming somewhere, this issue will likely just follow you to the new channel. The only thing this second method would catch is if another midi device is just by chance sending a message that happens to align with something the ML10X is also responding to.

Good thought! Thank you!
