Midi Tap Tempo not sending info for resistance ladder aux switch (MC6)

I’m trying to take advantage of a resistance ladder aux switch by allotting one switch for Midi tap tempo. I’m using an MC6 on firmware 3.13.4. I’ve set the specific Omniport to reflect the function, but no info is being sent for that pedal from the MC6, per my midi monitor.

I have all necessary ports turned on in General config. It’s possible I’m missing something here, but does anyone have any pointers on how to get the aux switch to send a midi tap signal?

Just to confirm, have you calibrated the resistor aux switch? if you map the switch to another function, are you able to get the same trigger to trigger that function?

Hi James,

Yes, I have calibrated the aux switch and tested CC function from a preset. It sends the CC message fine from the preset, but no message is sent when it’s function is set to Midi Tap Tempo.

I tried using the MC6 as an EXT control in Ableton and it’s off the charts erratic and fast (120 up to 400+ bpm). Tap tempo feature still seems to have no effect… though I do see a deluge of tempo information coming through my midi monitor…

That sounds like it’s a midi loop. I’d disable clock out in Ableton.

Thanks for the reply! I can see how that could be case, but I don’t have Ableton sending any Sync info to the MC6. Ableton is only set to receive. When I set Ableton to EXT mode in order to allow the MC6 clock to be the master, the tempo bobs like a rollercoaster, regardless of the midi tap tempo (still ineffective). Hmmm….

What if you take the aux switch out of the equation? Does it work when setting up tap tempo on an on board switch?

Is it possible that a third device is sending clock somehow?

Yeah, I removed devices, rerouted virtual devices in Bome and added everything back in one by one. It is responding to tap tempo now… but it takes 1-2 measures to settle in on a tempo, and even then it’s not a whole number (so it’s nearly impossible to repeat). So, all of that to say I guess I’ll be figuring out another way to keep Ableton as the clock. Thanks to both of you for your help and responses. @GuitarWolf @james
