MIDI Footswitch Interact with DAW / Clock

Hi all – this is my first post here and I need some orientation.
I’m not totally new to midi, but nonetheless, I would need to hear some opinions and maybe even confirmations about the possibilities, and all support or forwarding to other sources will greatly be appreciated.

As far as I can see, most of the folks that use midi footswitch devices work with pedalboards and hardware effects.
I myself have no pedalboard, but I work with DAW (Ableton live 11) and I simply trigger and pilot effect switches and parameters, and it is quite hard to find information about that - other similar threads didn’t seem to help.

So what I want to do:

It is easy to trigger clips, and Ableton will quantise that.

But: I would appreciate if it would be possible that i. e. an MC6 as slave to Abletons midi clock (or to the midi clock of the audio interface?? —> RME UCXII) could do a quantised trigger to switch an effect on or off.

Someone could say: just practice to hit the button with the foot just in the right time. Yes – but when there are three or four effect buttons to trigger, and I would like all of them to execute the action right on the ‘one’ of the next bar of the song ….

So the question is: can an MC6 be slaved to work this way?

Yes. Morningstar MIDI controllers can receive external MIDI clock, which will set its own internal clock to match. This setting is a factory default. As long as you have not enabled Ignore MIDI Clock, your Morningstar controller will receive and respond to external MIDI clock either via USB or its MIDI inputs.

That sounds great - Thanks Brandon. And just to be sure — sorry for the noobie question: can I expect that this includes SPP song position pointer without just like that?

Our controllers receive but do not do anything with Song Position Pointer messages at the moment.

So this implies a feature request then. : ))
Thank you for support
