I am sending MIDI clock from my DAW to MIDI IN on MC6 Pro, then from MIDI OUT of MC6 Pro to MIDI IN of Microcosm. It is not receiving clock, it does receive PC messages though. If I plug the MIDI cable from my DAW directly into MIDI IN of Microcosm, it works just fine. MIDI Clock Persist is selected and has been toggled off and on. DIN5 is selected for DIN5 MIDI Thru and I have also tried checking each of the other DIN5 boxes. I am on Firmware 3.11.2.
I had a bunch of issues with MIDI clock on the Pro. Upgrade to the 3.12 fw first as that seems to fix a lot of them.
I read through some of the issues you were having, is that what did the trick? Is that FW beta? I updated to the latest but it wasn’t the one you mentioned, I need to do some digging.
Yeah the current v3.12.0 beta firmware fixes a number of MIDI clock thru related bugs, but more related towards reducing MIDI clock jitter when passing MIDI thru. MIDI clock should still pass thru in the current v3.11 firmware.
Does the BPM on the MC6P LCD show when you are sending MIDI clock from your DAW? That will tell whether the MC6P is indeed receiving clock, just to be sure that you have the settings in your DAW set up correctly.
And then, to pass it through from USB Device to DIN5, the setting should be like this:
Be sure to turn off Ignore MIDI clock
in the controller settings as well.
If you want to give the beta firmware a go (use it with the beta editor), you can find the links here: Trello
Thanks for the reply James. Midi clock to DIN IN to DIN Out to the Microcosm seems to be working now. I’ll be moving on to the Omni ports which have mostly Chase Bliss pedals attached.
I ended up having to install the beta fw through the standalone editor, it kept failing through the beta editor. The next issue I ran into was the MIDI thru settings not saving each time I’d save and restart. It finally accepted the change, now midi clock finds its way to the microcosm.
