Midi Box causing pedals to glitch from one port

I have a Midi Box which generally works great. Recently I noticed my pedals were going haywire and managed to narrow the problem to a single port on midi box. If I unplug that port, all pedals work fine.

Is there any sort of warranty / repair process?

When you say the pedals were going haywire, do you mean only the pedals attached to that port, or all pedals attached to the MIDI Box? Also, could you describe the malfunction with more detail for troubleshooting purposes?

When this port is in use:

  1. The Chase Bliss Onward plugged in directly has the Glitch half of the pedal power cycling on/off repeatedly and is unresponsive to the bypass switch

  2. Other pedals like Sending and Flint are no longer registering Midi Clock correctly and do not function properly

Upon unplugging the faulty port and using a different one, all pedals behave normally and respond to clock correctly.

Interestingly, other midi signals (eg, triggering Zelzah to bypass or switch mode) seem to be received correctly, just not Clock.

Last questions for now:

  • Are any of these pedals connected in a loop (A to B to C back to A), or do they go in one direction and terminate somewhere.
  • Where is the MIDI Box in the chain?
  • Are you using the MIDI thru on the MIDI box as well?

All the pedals go in order from guitar to pedals to amp to fx loop and back. No loop.

Midi box is connected as follows:
Elektron Digitakt > midi box > variety of midi pedals via 1/8” trs and 5 pin thru to moog synth.

Yes, midi through to moog synth.

Which port on the MIDI Box is this, and is the port set to handle the connected device correctly? For example, if you are connecting the Chasebliss Onward then you need to set the port to Ring active.

The problem is from port 1 (next to the power cable).

Confirmed it was set correctly to ring active.

Heres a picture:

Noticed the picture looks funny, double checked box just now and confirm that for ports 1-4, the top row has only the rightmost pin covered by the jumper, and the bottom row has the left 2 pins jumped.

So… is there any type of warranty, repair or replacement for cases like this?

Yes, if you think it is faulty. Please send us an email ( help@morningstarfx.com) along with your order number and a link to this thread.

In this case, it might be? But just double check first that the cable that you are connecting to Port 1 isn’t faulty. It might be shorting Tip or Ring to ground which might be causing the issue. You
