Message scroll works not as i want

Hello people,i got a problem (the last one i hope) with a bank with “message scroll”.
for my walrus M1, I have configured the MC6 to scroll from (example) chorus 1 to 5.
it works.

i have programmed a “long press” action to turn the walrus “off”.
That works too.

but for example.
i play guitar, with chorus number 3. Then i don’t need it for a Minute so i press it “off”.

The problem I have is the following:

If I need this chorus again and turn it back “on”, it does not stay on chorus 3 but will advance by 1, therefore 4.

how can I resolve this problem?

@james

thanks

There isn’t a good way to do this yet. The only way would be to use the Utility message with an On Disengage action so that when you select another preset, this message executes. But, you can only set a specific message number to set the index to. There isn’t a feature for “last message” currently. Sounds like a good feature to add though - we’ll need to look into it.

I think I know how your preset looks like
Just got an idea.
If you replace every ‘press’ action in that preset with a ‘long press’ it might work. You’d have to engage the preset with a long press though.

Edit:
If this works as I think it does you’ll also have to add a message with:
On first engage + whatever the first pc# in that preset is

@james That would be a nice feature.
But I think in this particular case the underlying problem is, that it is not possible (I couldn’t make it work properly) to scroll through messages only if the preset is set to pos2.

The idea is to scroll through some messages (pc#) while still being able to toggle the preset and the device on/off using a CC with one button.

i will take a look more deeply …
i’m on trying to understand how different messages work

your answer is for me or is it an aditional suggestion to @james idea?

Hello @james
Yes adding the message “last message” could be a very interesting thing, especially in my case.
It is for a bank made for acoustik guitar, where the affects are more subbtle like in other banks.
Mixing differents types of delays, reverbs and modulation offers me a lot of possibilities, that’s why it could be very helpfull to be able to shut an effect off by having the possibility to reactivate it with a simple press action; like a basic stompbox.

Has anyone noticed this?

1- Preset B in scroll message
if I was turn off the preset with a long press and turned it back on with the B button then the counter advances by 1

2- same scenario with Preset B, but I turn off preset B with the C (tremolo) button (which is identical to B for the chorus).

At this point, preset B does NOT advance by 1.

It’s weird, it works in some cases.
I’m sure there must be a possibility.

Yes, I answered your question first.

Yes, I did
The preset counter is set to 1 ‘on disengage’.

If you can wait until thursday I will take another shot at your problem.
I think using a pc number scroll counter instead of the message scroll will solve this. Since you just scroll through consecutive pc# anyway. And the possibility to send just the pc# where you left off is already implemented.

i have tested it; doesn’t work, sorry.

i have found a way to have what i want i mean.

i have programmed a bank with “PC Number Scroll”.
i’have tested a lot and finally i get 95% what i want.

whether I activate it or not, there is no difference in use…
Is this an extra message that I can delete?

I noted that if we set the “wrap around” position to “Yes” in message 2, then again, we obtain the same thing as with the “message scroll”, namely that it advances by 1, when we turns the pedal ON and OFF.
Choosing “NO” returns to the last used position. Is this the way to do it or is it a coincidence?

Message 6 :point_up_2:t2: was used for me to turn off the strip once I turn off the pedal in order to display the correct status of the pedal.
pedal off = strip off…

Hmm,
what I can tell looking at your screenshots is, if it works it’s just by chance.
But let’s start simple and work from there. Just set up a scroll counter to scroll through the pc# you’d like to send on that preset and nothing else.
Do you know how to limit a scroll counter to specific values?

Well, I was so happy.

1- wrap around doesn’t work like I said.
on no, it no longer scrolls anything for me

2- the complicated part was to ensure that when the pedal was off, the strip must be off.

on the other hand, I have the same problem as with my bank message scroll…it always advances by 1; At this point I understand more. I just want to be able to turn my effects pedal off and on again without changing presets… damn

do you mean in the scroll counter settings? yes i know, that makes sense to me, for once :grimacing:

First step should look like this

Limit the scroll counter to the values you need and test the preset. you should be able to scroll through all your chorus presets at the end of this step. if you reach the last preset it should wrap around, starting from the beginning again.

Is message placement important? I thought you had to first give the order to the pedal to turn on

I programmed your message as number 1, like you did.
the pedal lights up but there is no more counter

See edit above.

Yes placement does matter but we’ll add that later. Let’s do this step by step. that way it’s easier to understand what happens and why

I’didnt include the placeholder in the short name

nothing happens, the m1 doesn’ turn on yet
