Would be really nice if the MC8 supported Kemper the Bidirectional Protocol (or allowed me to handle that via some extension mechanism like a compiled binary or interpreted lua. Don’t expect this to happen any time soon.
Bidirectional would allow the MC8 to display the preset name and the rig bank/offset on the big MC8 Display … which the Kemper Player desperately needs. It would also allow the MC8 to display the type of each modules “effect” and the actual on/off state immediately after changing to a new rig. And more…!
Have you tried sending MC8 action to display the Kemper Tuner on the MC 8? Especailly useful fpr you since the PLayer is mostly hidden under the top tier.
Bi-directional communication would be convenient however it doesn’t take too much additional time to colour code your MC8 preset with the corresponding Kemper rig bank colour which leaves you text space to note the rig name if you wish. Pretty sure if it’s a long name the MC8 allows scrolling of the preset name? (@james ?)
I know I could get the tuning function of the Kemper to display on the MC8 but I chose to use the tuner in the H90 as I feel it is more accurate.
Without bidirectional, you are trying your setup on the MC8 to a specific rig/bank.
Do you use the strobe tuner on the Kemper. It’s far better than the needle.
I use the H90 tuner which is neither needle or strobe, it’s simply an alphanumeric display.
To all, how would you setup your MC8 pro to function with the player & H90? I’m always looking for interesting setups that I might not have thought about. @james I know you did a good YouTube video with the MC8 pro and the Cortex Mini so intrigued how you’d use the Kemper unit instead.
