How have you successfully connected your mc6 pro to other devices through the usb c host port? Nothing will turn on when connected to its host port and I’ve tried a few different hubs and dongles. I’m trying to figure out if I’m not doing something correct or if I may have a defective unit.
Can you share pictures of the hubs you are using? It has to only have USB ports. It it has HDMI or other peripherals then it won’t work.
Have you tried connecting directly via cable to your other devices?
We send data to the USB host port to trigger routines during assembly and our tests so any boards with faulty USB host ports would have been filtered out. Not saying there won’t be any issues but let’s troubleshoot further
Here’s a current attempt to go from computer to mc6p to op1f via usb c cables. No indication that the op1 is connected to anything and my computer doesn’t show it as an available device.
Just to clarify, connecting any USB MIDI device to the USB Host port does not allow it to be detected to a computer that the MC6 Pro is connected to. The USB Host port simply allows you to control a USB MIDI device with the MC6 PRO.
If you want to pass MIDI messages from the OP-1 through to the computer via the MC6 PRO MIDI Host port, you’ll need to set the MIDI Thru settings as such:
This will pass incoming MIDI messages from the USB Host port to the USB device port and vice versa, so MIDI messages sent from the OP-1 will be passed thru to your computer.
Yes, the HOST port can supply power up to USB limits (500mA) but it also depends on the amount of current the MC6 PRO is getting . If you are only supplying it with 250mA in the 9v jack, or powering the MC6 PRO via USB, for example, then there won’t be enough power in the HOST port.
Just to clarify, is there an app you are running on the computer that you want to receive MIDI information from the OP-1? What app is that?
Gotcha. I had the mc6pro connected to usb c and powered off a Strymon Ojai (9v 500ma). I can try hooking it up to a higher current port. Is there a current max for the unit that I should be aware of? Is there a powered usb hub that I should try to work into my setup?
I’m trying to start basic and connect devices with MidiFire on my Mac.
