MC6PRO control Boss RC-5

I am trying to give my MC6 another go after more than a year and still have a ton of trouble configuring the Boss RC-5. I have the following questions, for which, if you can, please share both RC-5 config and MC6Pro config:

  • How can I control the level of the loop directly from the MC6Pro?
  • How can I control the tap tempo of the rhythm on the RC-5?

Thanks.

Hi,
First you have to assign one of the CCs listed to track level 1 or track level 2 on the RC.

If you want to use an expression pedal, you’ll have to set up an expression preset on the MC which sends the chosen CC.
Alternatively you could use a CC scroll counter or send single CC messages.

Use midi clock.

Not sure if you’ve watched this video yet, but it’s a great one showing you how to get going with using a Morningstar controller with the RC5:

I started with the video you shared, @Brandon (I had it already), but I think it did not cover the actual MIDI commands for the clock/tap tempo and how the control around the volume of the track and the volume of the rhythm works.

The tap tempo integration is a combination of setting the RC-5 to AUTO for MIDI clock and choosing MIDI Clock Tap message Type for the Press action on a specific footswitch.

I had to use the CC Value Scroll response to the Long Press Scroll action with a CC number that I set up for TRACK LEV1 and RHYTHM LEV1 resp. on the RC-5 in Setup->Control.

The video also doesn’t mention the fact that the other commands (e.g., clear track) seem to require a CC number/0 (zero) combo on the Release action to take effect on the RC-5.

The list came in handy, @GuitarWolf, but I had it already.

I would share my entire config if I knew how (it is a large JSON file of 70MB).

CC Value Scroll is only available after v. 3.7 on the editor. Counter 0 is set up in the morningstar MIDI editor Controller settings and is set from 0–100. I am not sure if the max value is 100 for level, however.
