Hi. I’m using a hx stomp for envelope and tremolo effects sometimes. And would love to re-trigger the tempo with one footswitch hit.
Just one hit on the downbeat to get the effects in sync.
I know how to tempo program this, but there’s no way to get the effects to sync properly without tapping multiple times on the hx stomp.
Any tips?
I’m not near my mc6 but do those effects respond to “MIDI start” messages? That would be the first thing I would try.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think the issue is that midi clock messages always produce some drift when recieved initially. Sending a clock message on the downbeat to sync a trem or envelope to the song won’t work. You’d have to sync the tempo in advance and activate the effect on the downbeat. Unless you have a possibillity to retrigger the envelope like you could with a Boss GT or SA C4.
I’ve asked the Line6 community. And it doesen’t seem like it’s possible to «restart» the effects liks it is on the H9.
So my only hope was that there might be a way to move the downbeat with one hit from the MC6
Do you see any parameters in your trem effects that look like a “retrigger” or “restart”? Line6 unfortunately doesn’t have detailed documentation of the parameters for each effect, and I don’t have a helix or HX device on hand, but that’s where I would start looking. If it has that, then you could link that parameter to MIDI and trigger it from your MC6.
Well, it does not have that option. It looks like the closest thing I can get is to tap multiple times.
Morningstar controllers can be set to only send 8 MIDI Clock taps rather than sending a persistent clock signal. If you used a “Press” to do a “MIDI Clock Tap” action, with MIDI Clock Persist turned off in the Morningstar configuration, maybe it’ll resync to that without you having to tap it out yourself?
