MC6 PRO seems to block PC/CC message in FM3 Integration Mode (Scene)

Hi there

I spent a few days playing with them :star_struck:
All works fine regarding the attached schema :

  • Beatbuddy and FM3 synchronises correctly from MC6 tap tempo
  • While activating “FM3 integration” with scenes works well when changing presets ont FM3

As I want to retrieve also the PC messages sent by FM3 during presets change, I added the MC6 passthru ONLY for the TRS midi output ( not DIN 5 output to avoid loop :wink: )

By the way I also activate Midi clock on TRS output

In that configuration, when MC6 “FM3 feature integration scene” is not activated, all works fine : Midi clock, PC and CC messages are transmitted correctly through MC6 TRS midi out link

The issue is when I activate the FM3 feature integration scene :

  • Integration scene synchonization works fine
  • Midi clock is transmitted correctly thru TRS midi output

BUT infortunately, PC and CC messages from FM3 are missing. It seems that FM3 integration mode blocks PC and CC messages passthru . Would it be possible to remove this constraint ?

Yes, I can confirm that when in integration mode, the MIDI IN on the device is disabled because the MC isn’t supposed to respond to any incoming messages in this mode. With that, the MIDI Thru system is also disabled. I’ve added it into our backlog to check on this.

In fact, the main upgrade would be to passthru only the PC messages issued by the FM3 when changing preset as the MC6 already got it. It woult allow to trigger other external devices like daw :star_struck: and avoid to add a passthru midi box on the rig

Ready to test it in a future beta, haha :smile: !

Did you have a look with forwarding PC/CC message on Integration mode ? Maybe allowing it with a function disclaimer :sweat_smile: ?

As I’d like to pre-order the MC8-Pro, I found another great application of the concept with the midi-bluetooth feature : Changing preset on FM3 would forward the midi messages thru the MC8-Pro to my “Live prompter” phone app to display the song’s lyrics :heart_eyes:

Another wish/idea :bulb:

In Integration mode with MC8-Pro, would it be possible to dedicate a specific range of buttons ?
For example, only buttons 1 to 6 would work on Integration mode
Buttons 4 and 8 would work normally to send specifics midi messages

I think it would greatly extend the flexibility
