MC6 Pro not receiving MIDI clock from Hologram Chroma Console

RESOLVED: User error
Apparently I own some MIDI cables that do forward PC messages but fail to forward clock.

Hi folks!
I got myself a Chroma Console and thought I can use the Chromas dedicated tap tempo switch to control all my pedals. So I try to send the Chroma Consoles MIDI clock to the MC6 Pro and have it forward it to all connected pedals.

The MC6 Pro isn‘t adjusting to the Chroma Consoles MIDI clock. I use the DIN connectors, I tried several DIN cables. MC6 Pro is set to not ignore incoming MIDI clock. Pressing the tap tempo switch on the Chroma Console does not make the MC6 Pro display the bpm etc.

Any idea, what I‘m doing wrong? I contacted Hologram Electronics. They confirmed, that Chroma Console sends out MIDI clock on the MIDI out. If they have any other suggestions, I sure will let you guys know!

Thank you all so much!

There’s been a few midi clock fixes and enhancements in the latest beta. I’d suggest taking a backup then installing the latest beta firmware https://github.com/Morningstar-Engineering/MC6-PRO-MIDI-Controller/releases/download/v3.12/2023-12-06_MC6_PRO_Firmware_v_3_12_0_231206506_Beta.hex (use https://editor-beta.morningstar.io/ beta editor once installed) and then follow the post-install instructions (including mapping midi ports and/or clock). Wonder if your midi clock isn’t mapped?

THINGS TO DO AFTER UPDATING

  1. Re-calibrate expression pedal
  2. Check new features in Controller Settings >> General Config (default MIDI clock ports)
  3. Check new features in Controller Settings >> MIDI Channel (MIDI channel ports and channel remap)
  4. Use beta editor for beta firmware: https://editor-beta.morningstar.io/
  5. If you have issues with the center bank colours, please connect to editor and check the bank color settings
