MC6 Pro + Mood mkii cc conflict

I setup a bank on my MC6 Pro to control footswitches for my Mood mkii and my Microcosm while they are sitting on my desk.

I have midi 5pin running from interface > MC6 pro > microcosm > mood (with a special 5-pin to 1/4 cable that I ordered from someone’s reco here).

In the Morningstar editor, to control the Mood, I have the cc’s assigned to channel 2, but when I tap on the foot pedal, a control on the Microcosm gets triggered.

Any ideas?

Hi, I’d check if the Microcosm isn’t on channel 2 or omni. And double check with the midi monitor if the messages send are on the correct channel.
Also if the Mood is able to generate midi messages I’d check if it’s sending something, too.

I checked the midi monitor and the right MIDI channel and cc messages/values are being sent out from the Morningstar to my gear.

I tried something new. I plugged the Mood pedal straight into the Morningstar, and everything works (so I guess it’s not a cable thing).

When I plug the Mood in after the Microcosm though, the MIDI messages don’t seem to make it to the Mood and one of the controls on microcosm accidentally fire off. :man_shrugging:

The MIDI setting on the Microcosm is set to “send internal clock, transmit MIDI thru).

Also, confirming that the microcosm listens for commands on channel 1 and the Mood listens on channel 2.

Any other ideas?

Looks like the Microcosm is the culprit. Is the firmware up to date?
I’d consider a factory reset

I just checked and the firmware is indeed out of date. I’ll give that a shot and report back. I really appreciate your help with this.

The firmware update unfortunately didn’t work. I also tried setting the Microcosm to a different MIDI channel, but still no dice. :frowning:

I was able to take the Mood out of the MIDI chain and connect it directly to one of the Omniports on the MC6 Pro (in parallel to the other MIDI output I have setup) using a 3.5 stereo to 1/4 TS cable (with it plugged in half way).

Thanks again!

Yes it sounds like you may have a bad midi cable for the mood

Chase Bliss uses a very unusual midi standard. It’s not midi A or B, but something slightly different.
I would suggest getting a cable from the Disaster Area Designs. They make specific cables that will work with CBA pedals that should allow you to use the microcosms thur port.

If you have another midi device you could try plugging that into the MC thur port just to confirm that it’s making it out of that pedal

If you already have more than one CBA pedal (or can feel that itch to get more) I would just invest in a midi box (sold by disaster area designs too but the Morningstar one is better) that will allow you to select the midi type on a per port basis

Thanks so much. I appreciate the reply. I was back and forth with a chase bliss midi tech and ended up ordering a midi box which did the trick.
