I’ve looked through the forum and have not been able to figure out (yet) how to set up a momentary switch (in my case the boss 5s-fu) to control the stomp and other pedals. I’d like to set it up as a momentary hold switch for something like sustain or 100% feedback on a tape delay.
I would love it if morningstar or someone else made a tutorial like the excellent expression pedal tutorial for this purpose (but will happily take text as well).
We have a video about that on our YT channel. However, the Boss FS5U is slightly different as it is a TS switch. Our MIDI controllers are designed to work out the box with TRS aux switches. However, there is a workaround for this. You will need to configure your Omniport as follows so that the Ring and Sleeve will be ignored (I’ve selected preset M but you can choose whichever you prefer):
Super helpful - thank you! The video I saw about aux switches was mostly about banking switches (which was also quite useful, as I have one and it works perfectly thx to this video). (https://youtu.be/IYEjrzsaSbc?si=u5khZeJ1DZDCDe3O)
I will look for a separate video about momentary aux switches across different pedals, but I’m not sure there is one like the expression pedal one (https://youtu.be/-TNTkqh-gEE?si=OyCJLJxWh028mNPw)
Here’s what that video would cover to meet my needs (maybe helps others too):
Using a single stomp aux to:
control the hx stomp - useful things might be 1. to turn on/off a single block, eg to activate a wah, or turn on a sustain a la the EHX Freeze 2. to set a certain parameter to a specific setting, eg to temporarily set delay feedback to 100%
control chase bliss pedals - in my case the condor, which can have a ramping parameter oscillate back and forth only when a switch is held
–
other things that I may control with it, that might be less helpful for others: activating “break” on the RC-10R, controlling parameters as per the above on the Boss SY-200 and C4 synth
–
using it as a tap tempo might be another thing that people would want to see.
I would also be curious if anything pressure-sensitive exists to replicate the TC Electronic MASH footswitch functionality (I realize you could just do this with an expression pedal, but I’m curious if anything exists in a switch format)
Thanks very much regardless - I think you have put me on the right path to getting it set up how I want!
