Hello, as this amp looks to have a MIDI-like input for the footswitch, I guess you would have to make a custom cable, TRS to 5pin MIDI. I would go out on a limb and suppose that the 5 pins are Ground - A- G - B - G. But this needs to be checked, their manual does not have this info.
Basically, you have to find which pins are shorted for which desired action in the amp. (channel or boost). Then wire the MIDI - TRS cable according to this info, then program either the T or the R to be shorted for the desired action.
I notice you mention that it has a TRS input for footswitch, must be a model i didn’t come across on the net. If that is the case, I doubt they use the short on tip and ring, it should normally be Tip to sleeve, or Ring to sleeve. Info of short is “read” on either the tip or the ring.
Make sure your test was with a TRS cable, not a TS cable. (Please note that instrument (guitar) cable is TS, not TRS.)
Here’s more informations from the manufacturer about the foot switch on the amp.
“The Slant does not use midi - we are just using all the pines.
If there is a switch it needs to an isolated open/closed type that does not ground either lead.
The slant has a + and - rail for its channel switching.”
Here’s some pics from the setup and a video showing the tip and ring action.
Hello, Daniel. The easiest way to do it then is to rewire the TRS cable.
For instance:
MC6 jack tip - AMP tip
MC6 jack sleeve - AMP ring
MC6 jack ring can be left unused since you don’t need a double action in the amp.
With this, when you send a tip command from MC6, it will short tip and sleeve on its jack which means tip and ring shorted on amp jack.
I think it should work like this. Please keep us posted.
LE: if you have the cable provided by amp, which is midi one side, TRS the other, I think you have two options:
replace the TRS jack with a 1/8 inch jack (3.5mm in my world ). Pay attention which cable goes where (maybe check with a multimeter). Keep the cable going to the tip and switch the ring and sleeve cables. And of course test just as you did in the video before plugging to MC6. (although you can’t do any damage, just to be sure that the cable works). Then, just send the command for tip in the MC6.
If you dont want to cut the original cable, just use an adapter cable with a 6.3mm female plug into the cable you have and a 3.5 mm male jack towards the MC6, which you will have to rewire as above. (or just buy jacks and cable if you are comfortable with doing all the work yourself)
