MC6 ... Changing from FSW to FSW goes to the Wrong FSW State?

Hi fellow MC6 Users !

Happy New Year to all !

I have -what I think- is a small and easy fix, but am just going around in circles and am lost.

I have attached the BANK in question - see attached.

I was hoping someone could please load it up, make the change that I need, and then re-load it for me to d/l - if that’s not too big an ask ? -or- tell me what to change ?

The only FSW’s needing attention are D,A,B and C - they are:-

D = CLEAN / CLEAN-SOLO
A = CRUNCH / CRUNCH-SOLO
B = ROCK / ROCK-SOLO
C = PLEXI / PLEXI-SOLO

On their own, each of the 4 x FSW’s are working fine.

The Problem ?

Whichever FSW I am on , as soon as I click to go to one of the other three FSW’s, it always goes to the SOLO state of the newly selected FSW, and then I have to press it a 2nd time to go to its non-SOLO State !?!

Simple example - I’m on FSW C = PLEXI / PLEXI-SOLO … toggling back and forth no problems … then I need to go to the CLEAN sound for a breakdown in the same song… I press once on FSW D = CLEAN / CLEAN-SOLO to go to the CLEAN tone, but instead it goes to the CLEAN-SOLO sound and I have to press FSW D a 2nd time to get to the CLEAN STATE sound.

I’ve tried “Remember Toggle States” and that doesn’t fix it.

Any/all help would be hugely and genuinely appreciated.
Ben

PS:- In the attached BANK, PC 16,17,18 and 19 are just the 4 Presets I am using.

Hi, would you share screenshots of your presets?

Yep - 4 Screenshots attached. Please let me know if you need any others :slight_smile:

Ok,
there is nothing wrong with your presets. I think the issue is that you got a wrong concept how toggles work (no worries this happened to me and others :wink: )
Position 1 is the default state of a preset when entering a bank.
If you press a footswitch for the first time every message within the preset that is set to ‘pos1’ will be send.
If ‘toggle mode’ is active the preset will toggle to position 2 after the messages have been send. If the preset is in position 2 the display will show the ‘toggle name’

So if you press e.g. ‘plexi’ the mc sends:
PC 19
CC 1 Value 0
CC 2 Value 127
The preset name shows ‘solo’

If you press ‘solo’ the mc sends:
PC 19
CC 1 Value 127
CC 2 Value 0
The preset name shows ‘plexi’

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe
CC 1 triggers some kind of boost for your solos? If that’s the case the name doesn’t align with what is actually engaged at the time, it’ll always show what will happen next if you press the switch.
If you want to change this you’d need to (conceptually) create a third toggle state.
Pos1 = neutral
Pos2 = plexi engaged
“Pos3” = solo engaged

The preset toggles from neutral to plexi on the first press. After that it will toggle only between pos2 and pos3 on every subsequent press.

Someone else had this exact issue recently, have a look at this:

Wow. Thanks GuitarWolf ! :smiley:

My brain hurts !!!

Please see the attached pic which does not work … am I on the right track ?

Am trying this for FSW C - my Plexi / Plexi-SOLO.

And yep … you’re right I have a boost and delay also switching ON with the SOLO

What changes do I need to make ? I’m pretty ok with “usual midi” but this has me confused ?

Ok,
I have some questions for you:

CC 1 and CC 2 toggle a delay and a boost and both should be on when ‘plexi solo’ is active?

What is the pc message recalling?
Everything is set to midi channel 1. I assume it’s a preset of some sort of multi effect or profiler?

What happens if you just send the pc? What is the default state of that preset? Are there any effects engaged?

What happens if you send that pc again? Will the message be ignored or does it reload the preset in it’s default state?

How schould the mc’s presets react if you switch to another preset? Do you want to reset the toggles to neutral?

Hey GuitarWolf

Given what you said about the first state, I re-assigned some effects from state 2 to state 1 and changed the names of presets so now I can go from Preset to Preset with 1 x FSW Push and the state that loads is the non-solo state I want … then I just hit the button to go to the solo state … and from either state, I can go to the non-solo state 1 of each Preset / FSW’s.

I just re-named each state to something easy to understand … all is good.

Would never have got this had you not explained how the “states” work as I had it 180 deg the wrong way around.

My sincere and huge thanks as always for your awesome advice and help.

Ben
