MC6 and Gauss looper iPad

I’m not sure if there is a problem with my Morningstar MC6 - when I map midi via AUM midi controls for Gauss, for example RECORD TRIGGER, the CH and CC is recognised and works perfectly with my Alesis midi keyboard, but with the MC6, even though it is clearly enabled in the AUM midi routing, with the same CH and CC setting the RECORD TRIGGER does not respond for Gauss. Can Monringstar advise?

The iPad will detect the controller as a MIDI device. Are you connecting it to the iPad via the Camera connection kit and USB?

You can verify that that the device is detected via USB with an app like this: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/midi-scope/id1185667452#?platform=ipad

I don’t have my camera connection kit with me right now so I can’t test it yet.

Hi James, thank you for the response. Yes I am connecting via the iPad camera kit and usb. Gauss recognises the MC6. I am able to set up a trigger of the record (for example), but not sure how to un-trigger the same operation. I have tried using two commands linked to toggle, but it does not work (for me, I may be doing something wrong). When using the transport record button on the Alesis midi controller it switches the record button in Gauss on and off as desired. I appreciate you taking time to think about this. It would be great if I could get my head around how to trigger and then un-trigger in AUM via the midi controls. Gauss is great looper, and I have a lot of ideas as to how to incorporate the MC6 with AUM and Gauss, but have not quite got there.

Can you try downloading that MIDI Scope app, and then check what MIDI messages are being sent from the Alesis Keyboard? Do share a screenshot here if possible. And then we can see how to replicate that on the MC6. Can you share a screenshot of your preset settings in the editor that you are using to trigger the transport record button also?
