MC4 Pro/MC8 Pro connections?

Hi, I thought I’d start a new topic for this. Based on the projected release timeline, I may be jumping the gun on this.

Based on comments on one of the MC8 Pro NAMM threads, it appears the MC8 Pro will have Bluetooth and WiFi connections. Looking at the picture, it appears that it has four Omniports, as well as presumably 5 pin MIDI in and out. If it has carryover from the MC6 Pro it may also have 3.5mm MIDI in and out, and maybe relay ports as well, and probably USB-C (regular and host?).

Looking at the two pictures of the MC4 Pro from NAMM, I can’t really tell what the physical connections might be, or whether it has Wifi or Bluetooth.

For anyone who might have knowledge, @james or anyone else, have I missed any connections that might be available on the MC8 Pro, and any comment on the MC4 Pro connections?

Just bumping this to see if anyone knows what the physical inputs and outputs might be on the MC4 Pro and MC8 Pro.

Sorry, missed this.

For the MC8, it’ll be the same as the MC6 PRO, but the 2 x relay ports will be 6.35mm instead of 3.5mm. So that is 4x omniports, 2 x din midi ports (in/out), 2 x 3.5mm midi (in/out), usb device, usb host, bluetooth

For the MC4 PRO, 2 x omniports (6.35mm + 3.5mm), 1 x relay port, 1 x din5 midi output, 1 x 3.5mm midi input, 2 x 3.5mm midi (in/out), bluetooth

James, thank you for the update!

Here’s the back of the MC4 Pro (my photo from NAMM, sorry for the blurriness).

Ahhh!! So awesome! I wish they would just go up to the 12. Right now I am using MC6 pro + MC6. (The regular MC6 because they did not have any of the pros available. But, would love a 12pro!!)

Hello mc8 pro will be my first Morningstar product. Will you be able to configure what pressing both A/B at same time will do ? If yes do we get 3 or 6 or more (say a top and bottom row button) of these ( double button presses )

My guess from screen printing is that we get only 3 double button press? Not top row ?

Double button presses are reserved for device messages. Those can’t be changed.

thanks for the help, though I’m new to these pedals. what does ‘device messages’ mean ? internal functions to morningstar pedal ? I’m trying to integrate MC8 PRO with Loopy Pro and HX Stomp (amongst other stuff…) but imagine wanting a MC8P preset for 8 buttons controlling my looper, then double press and 8 buttons programmed for control of HX stomp. this is possible ? and is this feedback from known (forecasted) MC8 Pro release, or legacy assumption ? thanks

seems reasonable if newer options like ‘chocolate plus’ are letting folks configure the double button press, that is might be something MS would push into future firmware updates ? been waiting for over a year for MC8 Pro, so considering just 2 cheap chocolate plus at this point. I could have 4 double button press options.

Are you asking if the Morningstar operating system for its devices will be changing with the upcoming release of these two hardware devices? I think the short answer is no.

Dual switch presses send device messages = messages for the Morningstar device. These cannot be changed. For the MC6Pro (the link goes directly to dual switch functions):

I assume the MC8 Pro will be similar.

Yes, like bank up/down or entering the menue.

It surely is!
The MC 8 is super flexible.
You could for example set up the controls for your hx on bank one and control a different device on bank two. Each bank has 3 pages with 8 presets per page. I think it’s 60+ banks. And you can change profiles which are basically independent sets of banks.
Device messages like bank jumps, engage preset, shift etc. and the option to employ multiple action types (press/double tap/long press) in a single preset allow for sheer endless possibilities to set up your personally prefered workflow.

E and F at the same time are Page Down, G and H at the same time are Page Up. F and G at the same time don’t seem to do anything. I imagine any of this could change though.

Making the dual switch presses customizable has been discussed. Having played with the MC4, I really liked the feeling of vertical dual-switch stomps, so I’d love to be able to use that in addition to the horizontal ones.

The idea of customizable dual-switch functions is on Trello, fyi (no developments that I know of, but it’s there!) Trello
