MC3 to control certain functions of an MC6 MKII

I’ve treasured my MC6 MKII for a number of years now and would never part with it. I also had the good fortune to acquire an MC3 recently. I’m wondering about ways to use them together. Is it possible to use the MC3 as an auxiliary switch of sorts for the MC6, to toggle pages and things like that? I know I can use it to pass MIDI commands through the MC6 and on to my pedals. Just wondering about non-MIDI functions. Anyone else doing something like this? Thanks for any advice.

Hi. The MC6 MKII can be controlled by the MC3 to do various things.

With your MC3 connected to the Editor, check out the MIDI Dictionary (https://youtu.be/qtb0-k-Y8TA?si=nR8Wh78yqJt9i6OS). You’ll be able to see select all the MC6 MKII functions that can be controlled by external MIDI.

Fantistic! Thank you, Brandon. Very helpful as always.

Would it be possible to add “Jump to Bank **”, “Page Up”, “Page Down” as CCs for the MCs? Then I could replace the Aux switch with an MC3 for more functionality. Thanks.

Next question building on the original. Could I use the MC6 to send MIDI messages to the MC3 via the USB-B port on the MC3 which are then relayed via the 1/8" ports to a MIDI pedal connected to the MC3 WHILE ALSO using the MC3 as an aux pedal for the MC6 via the 5-pin ports? If so, can the connection between the MC3 and MC6 be via a USB hub or would it have to be direct USB-B to USB-B? Thanks!

Those functions are already there. Bank Jump is performed by sending PC messages. This is stated in the MC6 manual here. You can see that Toggle Page is already there in the MIDI Dictionary for the MC6.

That is not possible as both the MC3 and MC6 USB ports are USB devices ports. They are not able to communicate with each other directly via USB.

Thanks @Brandon. I should have looked more closely.
