I recently purchased an MC8 Pro and have been experiencing issues with the Bluetooth connection. The connection works for only a few minutes before it stops responding. At that point, I need to close and reopen my browser to re-establish the connection, but it only works briefly before failing again.
Eventually, restarting the browser no longer resolves the issue, and I have to power cycle the MC8 Pro to reconnect. I have tested this on different browsers and on another computer, but the problem persists, which leads me to believe the issue may be with the MC8 Pro itself.
I also checked the forum but did not find any similar cases reported. Could you please advise on how to resolve this issue?
I’ve experienced this many times on Win 11. Try below.
Restart the Windows Bluetooth Support Service
Press the Windows Key + R together, type ‘services.msc’ in the dialog box that appears, and then press Enter.
In the Services window, find the ‘Bluetooth Support Service’ entry, right-click it, and choose Restart.
Make sure the Bluetooth Support Service startup type is set to ‘Automatic’ (right-click on ‘Bluetooth Support Service’, select ‘Properties’ and in the Startup type dropdown menu, select ‘Automatic’.
I have already tried this solution, but , it did not resolve the issue in my case.
What I’ve noticed is that the connection works on the first attempt, but after a few minutes it becomes unresponsive. When I disconnect and reconnect, the loading process takes much longer. At times, the presets/banks fail to load, the orange loading bar remains stuck, or an error message appears. If I attempt to disconnect and reconnect again, it often fails to connect altogether.
In such cases, I need to power cycle the MC8 Pro in order to restore the Bluetooth connection. Please find a few screenshots attached below for reference.
Unfortunately, I’m very familiar with what you’re experiencing.
Are you using Chrome or Brave? Regardless, try using the other browser.
Also, have you completely removed the MC8 Pro BT device from Windows Bluetooth, restarted your machine and then used the editor to pair the devices again?
I am currently using Chrome. Following your suggestion, I installed Brave, but I was unable to establish Bluetooth communication. I did remove the MC8 Pro Bluetooth device from the Windows device list before attempting to pair it again through the editor.
I also installed the app, but it worked once and twice and then stopped working.
Additionally, I noticed that my USB connection is not stable. When I attempt to back up all banks, the process frequently stops midway (see below snapshot), requiring me to disconnect from the MC8 Pro.
I have tested both firmware versions 3.13.5 and 3.13.6, but the issues persist. Previously, I used an MC6 Pro and never experienced any connection problems. At this point, I am uncertain whether the issues I am facing are software-related or indicative of a hardware fault.
With Brave, you’ll need to enable BT communication in the browser. In the Brave address bar, type (or copy/paste) “brave://flags” into the address bar, search for “Web Bluetooth API”, and set the option to “Enabled”.
Thank you for the instructions. I followed your instruction and was able to connect using both Brave and the standalone editor app. The situation has improved slightly. The connection now lasts a few more minutes than before. However, it eventually stops working again. At that point, I need to disconnect and reconnect, but the reconnection process takes a very long time, and sending or receiving information becomes extremely slow, make the connection unusable.
Have there been similar reported cases, and will there be an upcoming update to address this issue?
I have found that the MC8 Pro Bluetooth connection is very distance sensitive. Right next to the unit my MAC will connect, edit and backup (slowly). Add 10-15 feet even with direct line of sight and the connection becomes unstable. Hopefully this lack of power will not cause issues with my IOS Ipad running right above the unit during stage shows.
