Loading preset banks for Opus into the MC6 Pro?

So I have a new MC6 Pro, I also have an Two Notes Opus. The video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6aHWsSxrsuU) on YouTube contains a load of presets for the Opus in a Google file link. How do I load this set of Opus banks into my new MC6 Pro? I have the Opus, set to channel 1 as instructed, and I downloaded and opened the zip file in my laptop but how do I now get these preset files into my MC6 using the editor? Everything I’ve tried says the 3 JSON files are invalid. Obviously I am a newbie so any help is appreciated!

Hi! Obvious but possibly dumb W first (haven’t watched the vids) - they ARE Morningstar files, right? If so, have they come from an MC6Pro or one of the older models?

Using Windows? Open the files in a json aware text editor (Notepad++ with one of the json plugins installed is free and works well). Do the files report as valid when you try to eg show the json tree, extract a json path etc?

lol should have watched the vid, it’s from @james using a Pro :grinning:

Yes it opens with Notepad (Windows 10) and appears to be all programming: EXAMPLE:“schemaVersion”:1,“dumpType”:“singleBank”,“deviceModel”:6,“downloadDate”:“2024-01-18T10:00:45.659Z”, etc. I understand a JSON is a Java Script type code so I assume that should load these presets into the MC6 Pro but again I am at a loss as to how that is done. Not sure who @james is! Thanks for trying to help.

I had success loading them into my MC8. I needed to modify them afterward due to the differences to the MC6 Pro.
You open the editor and chose a preset to load them into. There’s a bar to the left of the “save” bar. In the middle of that bar is an arrow pointing up. Click that and it is " load from". point it to the file and select it. Then save it.
By the way, James is from Morningstar’s helpful staff.

Thank you LeeMo! I will give that a shot and report back. And for identifying James. Appreciate you!

OK, it worked LeeMo! I chose a bank to edit and I saw the up arrow. This opened a folder on my laptop where I chose the “Opus Presets” json file which then presented me a choice of presets to load in the editor. I chose 1, edited it a bit, and then saved. I’ll continue to explore this as this really got me started. Thank you for your help!

you just load each one consecutively down the line in separate presets.

Yes I did exactly that, just picking the ones I wanted to load individually. Since then though Morningstar replied to my inquiry on the YouTube video and instructed me to do this: “Controller Backup Tab > Load the Bank file to your controller”. I did so and was able to successfully load each file all at once (Presets, Amp controls and Expression Pedal controls). I accessed different Banks in the Controller and as I did the individual file I chose loaded fully into that active Bank I was on. This I assume is the same process you’d use to re-load any Bank backup files you previously created if necessary. Hopes this makes sense and might be helpful!
