I’ve learned quite a bit in the last month about programing and optimizing my MC6 Pro. PC Number Scroll is really useful and superior to what I was doing early on in trying to make a single footswitch do multiple things. I am now using PC Number Scroll to toggle through say 4 presets on a given pedal (0-1-2-3) triggered by a Long Press. The only issue for playing live is that sometimes you might want to quickly get back to the most tame sounding preset on say, a delay pedal, which is preset 0. Having to long press several times to go from preset 1 to 2 to 3 and then finally back to 0 is problematic. It just takes too long.
My idea was to continue to use the same PC Number Scroll system but add another message that uses a Double Tap (or Double Tap Release - I’ve tried both) as a Program Change to quickly get back to preset 0, regardless of where you are in the scroll list. But this doesn’t seem to work.
I have successfully used this combination of Long Press & Double Tap before when it didn’t involving a PC Number Scroll. I have a different bank where I used a Long Press to do a PC Change to preset 0, and a Double Tap to change to preset 1. This was very good in that you got used to knowing exactly which action got you to which preset, but it limited you to only two.
Any idea why I can’t get this additional Double Tap to do a PC Change back to preset 0? Is there something about the PC Number Scroll that prevents it from working?
This plan is very helpful for performing.
I connected a very cheap THREE BUTTON EHX AUX SWITCH to an omniport.
I set up the omniport to map presets eg T,U,V to the three EHX AUX buttons.
Once the presets were programmed as you want - you then copy these three TO ALL BANKS
This gives me 3 actions per preset - release, double tap, long press release - PER BUTTON
I CAN THEN EITHER JUMP TO A DESIGNATED BANK AT ANY TIME eg “Home” Bank - or activate a specific PRESET without scrolling or tap dancing on the controller
EG a core sound - overdrive - lead sound etc etc

I actually use two AUX switches - one for controller navigation and one for accessing songs and sounds EG turning turning my core sound On/off - turning solo sound on/off - jumping or cycling through a set list etc etc
this is a great idea. although i feel i should be able to optimize the 6 buttons i have lol. But i do like the idea of having a cheap footswitch for more functionality. It seems that EHX model is discontinued? What does T,U,V mean?
I appreciate the added convenience and capability offered by adding footswitches, but my question is really a different one. Very specifically, when using a PC Number Scroll, why can’t I get another message, a Program Change aimed at the same pedal, to work?
Is there a trick that I’m missing or does the PC Number Scroll prevent a normal PC Change from also working along side it?
Each BANK HAS access to more than three “pages” of preset letters.
When assigning an aux footswitch to an omniport - you can make it control any combination of these presets. The EHX switch (Electro Harmonix) has three switches The BANK presets T,U,V were just an example of which ones I used on my MC8 Pro.
Visit the controller settings in the editor, and the editor user manual for more information on using aux switches.
You. Can also just set up your banks where the presets are on different buttons and just have access to each one.
sorry for the late reply. So you are using the EHX to switch pages?
is this not something that can be done with the MC Pro. (page scroll for example) I do find hitting 2 buttons a but clunky..
Is the extra switch for speed then?
I originally used one preset per MC8 Bank as a way of Jumping back to my “home” page (Bank1) from where i could access various important Banks.
Much like nested Folders on a computer. Then I wanted to separate out MC8 navigation to a dedicated AUX switch.
Then i realised that a second AUX switch would be very useful for playing live - to get to my “default” sounds.
Particularly useful to hit one button to enable / bypass my overdrive pedals - and switch from rhythm to lead without leaving the current bank i was on. H
